"press release for MP show"

"What came first... The Bird Talk or the egg? Well either way, the egg is hatched, and Bird Talk is here to stay. With a sound that resembles the modern Buzzcocks...with a girl & keyboards. Bird Talk encourages people everywhere to take off their shoes and dance in their socks. Let's Boogie!" - mpshows.com

Bio

Bird Talk is Melissa "Jumpy" Marquez, Emily Engelhard, Anthony "Shimby" McCreery, and Jacco Kuipers. Three quarters of the band reside in Chicago, Illinois...in a three flat building they have affectionately named the Bird House. Jacco is originally from the Netherlands, but currently calls Wheaton, IL his home.

Formed in the spring of 2007. Jumpy and Shimby found each other via a posting on a well known classifieds website, and hit it off right away. They tried playing with several different people over the span of a couple of months, before finally asking Emily to join them on keyboards in December of 2007. Jacco later joined the band in November of 2008. It was a match made in heaven, in more ways than one...Shimby and Emily are a couple, but the actual musical chemistry between the four of them was apparent from the start. Combining a wide range of influences...from Indie Rock, New Wave, 60's Garage, Punk, Dance and all shades of Pop music to create a sound that is uniquely there own.

In the short time they have been together, they have been a featured artist on Chicago’s own radio stations: WXRT 93.1 fm, WLUW 88.7fm, and twice been asked to contribute songs to Blalock’s Indie Rock playlist, alongside other amazing bands/artist’s such as: No Age, Women, Dan Deacon, Los Campesinos!, etc.

After having extensively played around the Chicago area and beyond in support of their debut album, Bird Talk hit the studio in February of 2010 to record the follow-up record, with songs about underage girls, virgins, babies, mythical hybrid creatures that resemble crosses between bats and sharks, and having too much fun in the summertime. This record will be released as a 7" single, and as a downloadable six-track EP
