Bio

Hailing from County Limerick, the group was formed in early 2010. Their music sits nicely in the mainstream while managing to hold its substance and depth in both lyric and tone. The songs are from the heart, portraying beautifully the rollercoaster ride that is life. The mood is rootsy with a distinctive edge.

After only their second gig, Birdthistle made it to the last 24 bands in the country in the Guinness Our Thursdays regional final.

July 2010, is significant as it was then the band decided to start working earnestly on its debut album. The said album was produced by Daragh Dukes, an accomplished composer, songwriter and producer (including co writing and singing "A Letter from St. Jude" which featured on the Spiderman III soundtrack together with composing various pieces for RTE, Lyric FM, and TV3) and is currently being mixed by Chris O'Brien and Graham Murphy at the Production Suite, Dublin. Richard Dowling of WAV Mastering will master the album. Eoin says "With the experience Chris and Graham have in the industry coupled with they having worked with some of our favourite bands (The Waterboys, The Blue Nile, and Clannad amongst others) to work with them was an easy decision for us and we are delighted".

The guys have also been working with Owen Lewis (REM, Killers, Snowpatrol, Lady Ga Ga, Hole) at Noel Hogan Production.

Debut Single and Video 'Let It All Go Home' was released on May 27th 2011, and is out now on iTunes and Amazon and can be seen on youtube. It has been playlisted on RTE Radio 1 and John Creedon took a shine to the band when he saw them perform live in Crane Lane, Cork.
