"Biskit Jonz-One Band, One Sound"

Funk, R&B, hip-hop and live screw, describes the sounds of the 2-year-old Houston band, Biskit Jonz. Michigan, Houston and Oklahoma natives, Rudy Scott, Anthony "Bongo" Toliver, Rodney Shannon, Lewis Brown and Kejuan Oliver, are all passionate about bringing real instruments back to the forefront of music, taking it back to the days of the eclectic sounds of Cameo and the Parliament.
It all began with Rudy Scott and Rodney Shannon, who produced tracks for a rapper by the name of Quarter Boy. The chemistry was flowing between the two and slowly but surely, the like-minded musicians were drawn into the vision of Biskit Jonz.
The band’s highly anticipated CD release is scheduled for fall 2005. Fans will be able to listen to favorites like, “Music” and “Funky Beat.”
As doors continue to open, the group maintains their relentless pursuit for success. “We keep pushing; keep talking and staying in the loop,” says Shannon, explaining how the band overcomes the everyday challenges faced by up-and-coming musicians. “There are a lot of people who talk a big game while doing their own thing on the side, but we want to make sure we make the right connections with people who are connected.”
Biskit Jonz must be making the right connections, as they recently had the opportunity to open for Angie Stone at the Houston Black Expo earlier this year. The band aspires to open for Alicia k\Keys, who they respect for her live music, sound and presentation. –natalie carpenter
