Bio

It doesn't take much to see the strong connection that Pop singing trio, BitterSweet, has with each other. The group's members, which consist of Emmie, Morgan, and Dani, were brought together in early 2010 by manager Jay Pugh.

Collectively, they began performing when they were very young, mastering the craft of singing and dancing. Their vast cultural differences and distinctive styles make up the groups unique persona. Their strong drive and dedication to this group is apparent in their energetic performances. They bring audiences to life when they hit the stage. When the girls are not performing, they are together, rehearsing, going to the movies and shopping, like normal girls do.

BitterSweet is currently in the studio working on their debut EP with producers/songwriters, Leticia Ascencio, Jeeve, John Mulchaey and JoBlaq. Their pop style is reminiscent of girl groups of the past such as, Expose, En Vogue and SWV. BitterSweet's selection of songs stems from their desire to have timeless music. Songs that twenty years from now will still be as relevant as they are today. They are inspired by such artists as Destiny's Child, Brandy, Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera.

BitterSweet is gearing up to release their first single, "Tell Me", with TMG/Universal in the early fall. They are very excited and feel very blessed to start on this new journey.

Emmie Kivell

As early as the age of two, Emmie Kivell seemed destined for a different path than most young girls in her native Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was already enrolled in dance classes, where she discovered her love of the stage and spotlight performing in dance recitals. As she grew older, she excelled in gymnastics, ice skating, swimming and voice, and in school and church she was often award the lead in musicals.

“She made our front hallway her stage,” her mother remembers. “She would set up the video camera on the tripod to record everything from a full-length version of the Nutcracker ballet to the evening weather report with a fan blowing winds and umbrellas. She and her friends even wrote and choreographed their own musicals!” Emmie has also mastered the piano and violin, picking up these instruments and teaching herself by ear.

When she was 12, the family relocated to north Texas, where she signed with an agent and began to hone her acting skills. She found work in print, commercials, film and runway modeling. She recently moved to Hollywood, and she was immediately discovered for her many talents and signed to join the hot pop R&B group BitterSweet. Emmie brings with her an exuberant energy that, with her amazing vocal range, makes her one of the young stars to watch in the new decade. “Performing with Morgan and Dani is so much fun,” she says, “that I forget sometimes that it is really a lot of work!”

Dani Nicole

Dani Nicole leads her life by the motto that there is no such word as can’t, her mother says. Her career began at the young age of three, when she sang her first solo at a Christmas program in her church. “She used to tell people she wanted to make people happy and be on stage, just like Celine Dion!” her mother adds.

Dani began training her voice while in grade school, and she would find herself singing whenever possible, even during softball practice. Her softball team would make fun of her because they could hear her singing from any position on the field! Accomplished in volleyball and basketball as well, her love was in the choir as she knew music was her calling and passion. She has performed in many musicals, most notably Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Footloose. At home, Dani has a strong bond with her siblings; “my brother and sister are my best friends,” she says proudly.

When she auditioned for BitterSweet, she was thrilled to find that she would be working with Morgan and Emmie. “I can’t believe how much energy these girls have!” she says. “I know with hard work and determination, we will make it to the top. We really are in this together!”

Morgan Martin

Cincinnati native Morgan Martin has been a tough competitor from the beginning. Whether she is singing, dancing, acting, or playing athletics, she has the “it” factor. “As early as age two, she would grab her father’s microphone and sing her favorite songs while dancing in the mirror,” her mother says. Morgan took up cheerleading and dancing at 5, and she has continued practicing and honing her talents ever since.

Morgan starred in her first school musical when she was in fifth grad, and that is when her family realized that their daughter was uniquely gifted as more than just a dancer. Morgan began her formal acting career as a member of The Cincinnati Children’s Theatre, where she performed in such productions as Annie, The Wizard of Oz, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The Piano Lesson with Rocky Carroll. Morgan has also gained accolades in high school for her skills
