Bituaya sounds Electrocaribe, a musical experience heavily influenced by Afro-Venezuelan and Caribbean sounds that fuses digitally in the neighborhood with all sorts of drums and colors.

It is a journey on a bus without brakes with a crowd listening to a lot of music together. Some leave, others get in! In the Caribbean sounds rumble your ears, hips are moved by electronic flows and hearts beat with African drums.
Bituaya plays electrocaribe, an electronic rhythm mixed with afrovenezuelan music with lyrics that reflect dreams, traditions, beliefs, loves and pains that are common in any latin american city, it is music from Venezuela that undoubtedly will make everyone dance with its daring and avant-garde rhythms seasoned with songs about life.

Bituaya practice what it preaches as it has its genesis in the experience of creating the Cultural Park Tiuna El Fuerte, which members of the group are founders. Tiuna El Fuerte is a project built by young grassroots, under the premise of using the arts for social transformation. This space is located in the effervescence of the valley of Caracas and has achieved international recognition for its important impact in the life of kids and youngsters from low-income families.

The word BITUAYA comes from the eastern part of Venezuela, is the name by which the mix of vegetables are known in that region. The musical proposal raised by the six musicians has its foundations in the mixtures, combinations and mergers between what they are including Venezuelan and Latin American ingredients that sound and taste great.

In 2010 the group was selected to participate in the "Week of Caracas" with "Calle13" where they released their promotional disc and its first video "Yerbamora" which achieve national and international widespread, the overwhelming 1st place in the "VIDEO CARACAS FEST" and special mention for best video and lyrics at the awards "Anibal Nazoa" in Venezuela.

Subsequent to the release of their music video, Bituaya was selected to participate in the South by Southwest SXSW Festival 2011. The city of Austin, TX, was the initial stage for this group to turn on the dancing, partying and awareness in North America.

With SXSW Festival as a starting point, Bituaya made a small tour in the cities of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC and New York in search of artistic exchanges with groups and meeting with bands, musicians and audience of these U.S. cities.

The band also participated in the LAMC (Latin Alternative Music Conference) in the city of New York in 2011 and in September 2011 travelled to the Festival des Hip Hop Culture et Urbaines of Saint Denis (Paris-France) where they share with other artists and make urban visual record of his visit, in a documentary called "The World Tour" which was broadcasted on Venezuelan television.

The group was selected to participate in the Caribbean Cultural Market in Cartagena, Colombia, where he held an exchange of experiences, concerts, workshops, and business between bands, producers and distributors of various Latin American countries . As part of this event Bituaya performed a great concert attracting the attention of many and is recognized by musicians and groups in the region, opening gap in the Colombian market.

The 2012 started off right, with different presentations inside Venezuela. Among the most outstanding performances this year is "The Tour La Ventura" with artist Manu Chao, in the city of Maracaibo, Venezuela. In July (2012) the group goes to Bogota-Colombia to participate in the celebration of the anniversary of RADIOMIXTICIUS to give a presentation at BOOGALOOP, one of the most prestigious concert halls of the alternative music scene of this city. On this visit received media attention from the recognized National Radio and web portals, Zona Girante, Sono Cultural and Parlante Amarillo who outlined the band as one of the most outstanding musical offerings emerging in Latin America.

Currently, the group is in the phase of post-production of their second album which will be mixed in the U.S. with renowned producer Greg Landau. Alongside involve some friend artists from Venezuela as Baroni and DJ MKC, and international musicians like Gambeat bassist and lead singer of Manu Chao and Marina of the Spanish group Ojos de Brujo.

The group consists of extraordinary musicians who have a strong record in Venezuelan art scene. Piki Figueroa, singer
and composer, has an outstanding participation in the Venezuelan music scene as a founding member of the popular hip hop group Sontizón. Eikilin, singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer, also integrates Sontizón and is founder of the group Caraqueño. Ernesto Figueroa, singer, has also developed a strong musical career as a member and founder of Palm Kanibales and Sontizón.
