Bio
BIZZY are a loud, brash rock’n’roll band from London. Imagine AC/ DC meets the Count Basie Band, Lenny Kravitz meets James Brown and you’ll be close to their sound. Or better yet, imagine getting your hair stroked and your arse slapped at the same time. The band started after Hammond organ player Dean K. Ross answered an intriguing ad left by frontman Bizzy in London’s Denmark Street in late 2008. When they met Dean realised he had finally found someone who summed up the phrase “star quality”. The real deal. They began writing songs together based around Bizzy’s unique vocal style and then set about finding a band.
After a lengthy and frustrating audition process, where people who owned instruments couldn’t really play them, they decided to approach some of London’s top session players and teachers for their recommendations. From those came drummer Ric Elsworth and bassist Dave Thorogood. The biggest surprise was when they discovered guitarist prodigy Ben Roberts who at the age of 17 walked in the room and blew everyone away. Before joining Bizzy he’d never played a gig or been in a recording studio.
Bizzy’s first gig was at The Hope & Anchor in June 2009. Since then they’ve played numerous gigs across London including The Barfly, Proud Galleries, Monto Water Rats and The Dublin Castle, winning over scores of new converts each time.
In December 2009 the band released their first EP on iTunes.
BIZZY is wild, infectious and edgy, both classic and modern. Bringing back the true spirit of rock’n'roll. Times ten.
