Born and raised in Uptown Washington D.C. , B-Jay is all to familiar with the "street life". B-Jay was exposed to a world that most people can only read about in newspapers and awe at during the evening news. He grew up in neighborhoods notorious for its crime, drugs and violence. It was this environment that groomed B-Jay into an impeccable lyricist and storyteller.
B-Jay began rapping at the age of 14. He dreamed of one day telling the stories of the people living just blocks away from the White House who have yet to their stories told though music. B-Jay dreamed of "making it big. However, hanging with the wrong crowd led B-Jay into a major run in with the law. This encounter provided a wake up call for the teenage rapper and inspired him to write.
He quickly learned that writing and rapping allowed him to express his emotions through his music in a way that he never knew he had the ability to do. Another encounter with the law, stepped him back, paused his progress but allowed B-jay to gain a new perspective about his life and future all the while crafting his skills as a story teller.
His unique voice flows like fluid. Bringing back memories of a young Notorious B.I.G and Tupac combined with present day artists Rick Ross. The maturity in his lyrics and his ability to completely engulf you into any story hes relaying is something that rappers twice his age have yet to accomplish.
In 2010 B-Jay signed with Mazerati Music, owned by former NBA All Star Steve The Franchise Francis. As the youngest member of the label his work ethic is impeccable He diligently, recorded and performed alongside some of the hottest up & coming acts. While at Mazerati Music he released "The Statement" which achieved notable success.
However, in January, 2012 B-Jay parted ways with the label and has worked independently ever since. His first independent Mixtape is entitled The Statement 2, which is described by him as his "most personal project" to date.
B-Jay has been working non-stop. He is growing as an artist, building his brand, and making his mark in music, locally first with plans of expanding and taking his music nationally.
