Biography

Ben Johns is not only a songwriter, producer and DJ, but a gifted guitarist from Perth Australia who began his musical journey at the tender age of 5 whilst strumming on his guitar. He studied a modem guitar style until he was 15 followed by another 4 years of classical training. In no time, Johns began to play in original bands around Perth, continuously focused on various projects. With his natural ear for diverse musical styles ranging from Heavy Metal to Funk and Soul, Johns without ado developed his studio know-how.

Since moving to Melbourne Australia in 2003, Johns formed a band "One Way Frequency with singer/songwriter Richard Moore. The combination of Moore and Johns created a truly unique sound. Their debut single, "Count on me" released in February 2005, received a large amount of airplay as it was successfully added to the regular play lists of several radio stations nationwide. This funky upbeat song was later broadcasted on music programs such as Rage and Channel V.

In March 2005, Johns became involved with the creative team, LOOPe Productions at Soul Fusion Records. Johns collaborated with artist Jaedelle to co-write her "promo" song "One Day", a comforting song, with a soulful melodic groove about overcoming personal challenges. Soon after the pair continued to produce several other songs while performing live around Melbourne.

Most recently Johns expanded his own solo career as a Dance music producer and DJ. Going by the name of "BKJ", Johns commenced building his profile around the Melbourne club scene where he is now regarded as one of the hottest new producers to hit the dance scene.
