"Gang Signs Make Love to Your Ears w/Blac Hollywood"

Gang Signs were supported by Blac Hollywood. Blac Hollywood, real name Cephas Munga, is a 20 year-old electronic artist. He mixed a wide range of samples into his music from hip hop to Purity Ring. He had a kind of hype man who would intermittently jump off the stage to grind with ladies, hand out business cards and video the audience. It made them come off as on the charming side of being young and cocky. Blac Hollywood’s mellow, experimental music was played to a modestly sized crowd but I’m guessing it won’t be long before he gets much bigger in Vancouver. - Vancouver Weekly

"Introducing Blac Hollywood"

Artist Name: Blac Hollywood. Homeland: Vancouver, British Columbia. Real Name: Cephas Munga.

Blac Hollywood’s art of combining several experimental tones of linear electronica in ‘Saturday Afternoon’ & ‘Friday Night’ through to exciting partial notions of trance and techno across ‘Velocity’ (and his appealing ambient & chilled-out melodies of ‘Road Trip’ / re-working on ‘Obedear’) makes the discovery of Cephas Munga’s work a fertile journey of capable assortment, and a road of energetic potential.

Lots of raw, prospective excitement is in store within this collection. - Airiel Noise

"LOCAL LOVE: Blac Hollywood"

Vancouver has plenty of electronic acts in the city but, none like 20-year old Cephas Munga. Combining hip hop elements to a signature experimental style, this young and up-and-coming producer will surely be blowing up on the blogosphere soon.

According to his Facebook page, Cephas’ spectrum of influences ranges from Daft punk, Kid Cudi, Egyptian Lover, and Magic System to name a few, but his recent release Circus & Dreams shows use of samples from current favourites, like Purity Ring, The Weeknd and even an amazing recreation of “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga. It is only a matter of time before this young musician becomes a staple in the Vancouver music scene and can hopefully help revive the city’s hip-hop scene. Check out Blac Hollywood’s sound cloud for a free download of his newest ep Circus & Dreams - my personal favourite would have to be “I’ll Be Your Girl”.

About

While many artists fail to express themselves creatively or are scared to experiment within there musical talents and means, Blac Hollywood manages to do exactly that, experiment.

Vancouver, BC Boy Cephas Munga born November 14, 1991(age 20), has always had a knack for music. “My household always played Congolese music, daily” explains Hollywood, who grew up in an African household before moving on his own to Vancouver in early 2011.

Equipped with nothing more than a desktop PC and a condenser mic, he started posting music on his Facebook to generate feedback and input.”I was just rapping at first, but then I stopped showing up to university classes and I took time to learn how to make beats on FL studio. I started my own classes.” Jokes Hollywood who has now mastered his blend of electronic music and rap, which has been dubbed “that different S**t” by local artists and fans.

“My influences range from all spectrum’s of music, artists such as: Daft punk, Kid Cudi, Egyptian Lover, and Magic System”
