Bio

After spending two short weeks holed up and snowed in at Newkirk Studios, Brooklyn-based Blackbells emerged from the borough with their debut self-titled EP in hand. The band's cohesiveness is immediately evident and can probably be owed to the four members' countless hours roaming the streets together, and many more playing in several venerable New York City bands. On the heels of those collaborations, members Ben Rice, Anthony Stella, Austin Schumacher, and Seth Bulkin set aside time to create a project of their own. Calling upon influences ranging from Echo and the Bunnymen to Oasis and contemporaries Band of Skulls, Blackbells have created a unique aesthetic replete with Wall of Sound guitars, soaring vocals, a massive rhythm section, and impressive production.

With the release of their debut EP, Blackbells have hit the ground running, quickly finding themselves playing to capacity crowds up and down the East Coast with the likes of Band of Skulls, Crash Kings, Everyone Was In the French Resistance...Now (featuring Eddie Argos of Art Brut), WhoMadeWho, and Atomic Tom, as well as a stop at this year's SXSW. The quartet’s massive sound has also impressed music fans and critics alike, including tastemakers The Deli Magazine who gave the band a nod with a nomination for Artist of the Month. Blackbells will continue to tour in support of their debut EP throughout the Fall.
