"VOICE of Hampton Roads"

"The guitar riffs change from smooth grooves to commanding power, but always puts the listener in a trance. The singer is full of shivering emotional moods, heartfelt sensitivity and freight train howls. The rhythm section is soulful, always moving, and ready to break a song down to a gusty, emotional presence." - VOICE

We are a “preppy” bunch of rump-shacking, southern, solid-stomp, alternative-country-rockers from the south side part of Virginia and who maybe the only band that can hold a Gibson SG guitar and perform an original a capella, while our drummer stands on his stool to attack his drums like a MAD cougar. Then… comes a salty, sultry-sophisticated vocal, but when revved-up, comes a raspy powered engine goddess sent voice.

One may hear echo's of Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, CCR, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the blues, and a caffeine buzz Nina Simone... can you imagine? Plus some Tina Turner and Mick Jagger type presence to kick out the southern back-beat groove so ya’lls tail-feathers can swing.

Blackbird Pond grows from their Blues genre. Their preppy “Polo” style attire on stage does attract attention, but the group answers back with their unique ubiquitous Rock.

The band toured up and down the east coast, played in NYC, Capital Hill (DC) and even Texas and UCLA. They opened the John Lennon Songwriting Contest at the Dewey Beach Music Festival and Harley-Davidson’s 105th Birthday Bash. No place was unreachable. They even performed in Boone, NC during a winter storm driving to the venue on an icy narrow road with a top speed of 5 miles per hour through a thick fog along side a mountain cliff. Looking down was unbearable.

Blackbird Pond is getting a lot of press from The Washington Post, The Virginian-Pilot (their local paper) and even across the pond from Play Press Magazine (London). Radio too heard the growing buzz and played the band’s songs from Y-107 (Los Angeles, CA), 95X (NYC), to Y-100 (Miami, FL). On a crossover turn, urban station 92.1 The Beat even played their songs.

The band is receiving great reviews and sales from their latest CD, blackbirdpond.com vol. 3 and music video, “Sexy Conversation.” The band plans to continue their tour and release of vol. 4.
