Bio

Fronted by charismatic singer/songwriter Damon Ranger, the Chicago based band intertwines enormous guitars, pummeling drums, catchy hooks, and big choruses with beautifully crafted rock/pop songs.

The 5 song “No Looking Back” EP is just a snapshot of the band’s capabilities. Recorded at Gravity Studios in Chicago, produced by Doug McBride, (Goo Goo Dolls, Smashing Pumpkins) and assistant engineered by Manny Sanchez (Zwan, Eve) the band took a “no holds barred” approach into picking the perfect place that would capture their original/defiant sound.

This is the first step of many to come in an endless road of creating melodic rock/pop music. “No Looking Back” symbolizes the bands approach to stepping up to the plate and getting things accomplished in life. The songs on “No Looking Back” deal with relationships to which everyone can relate. The EP’s title represents a message of closure; let’s get up and go, life is too short to keep looking back.

Already in their short career, Blackbox have achieved many accomplishments. Drummer Gregg Potter is endorsed by Trick Drums, Vic Firth sticks, Gibraltar, Slug, and Zildjian cymbals. Modern Drummer Magazine did a feature article about Gregg Potter in the January 2004 issue (out end of November 2003 pg118) which was the 2nd time the magazine’s history that they’ve ever done a feature on an unsigned band, the first being The Dave Mathhews Band’s drummer Carter Beauford. Blackbox have played with many national acts including: Zwan, Local H, Neko Case, Hot Action Cop, and others. Blackbox has also achieved local radio airplay on 94.7 the Zone (which named Blackbox one of the top unsigned bands in the city 2003), Q101, and 95.1 Will Rock plus many college markets such as Madison, Wi, and Philadelphia, Pa. With a “No Looking Back” attitude Blackbox is ready for the future
