This Powerhouse Emmy Award Winning two piece is fronted by charismatic singer/guitarist/songwriter Damon Ranger and backed by the mighty Gregg Potter on drums. Hailing from Chicago, Blackbox intertwines enormous guitars, pummeling drums, catchy hooks, and big choruses into beautifully crafted rock/pop songs.

In 2009 Blackbox won an EMMY Award for their performance on the Grammy Awards Program “Grammy In The Schools.” The song was broadcast on CBS and guitar legend Rick Nielsen joined them on the performance. In 2010 Blackbox was nominated for a second EMMY Award for their behind the scenes tv segments from the Vans Warped Tour.

Blackbox is also packing fans in on hometown headliner shows at House of Blues, Metro, Double Door, Kinetic Playground, Lasalle Power Company, The Rave (Milwaukee) even headlining Chicago’s Millennium Park and Six Flags Theme Park to thousands.

Blackbox has their own TV/Internet segment with CBS 2 Chicago. Which has won Damon Ranger 6 Emmys. Since July 2007 Blackbox has had Sonic Youth, Silverchair, Patti Smith, Rhymefest, Lupe Fiasco, GZA (Wu-Tang Clan), Perez Hilton, Butch Walker, Juliette Lewis, Motion City Soundtrack, Kate Voegele, Peter Bjorn and John, Cold War Kids, Satellite Party, Snow Patrol, G Love, Electric Six, Buddy Guy, and more....on their segment. In 2009 WCIU tv picked up Blackbox to host a tv segment on their new morning show “You and Me This Morning.”

From February 1-Feburary 13, 2007 Blackbox, as an unsigned band, was the Q101.1 “Cage Match” champions on Q101 Chicago radio with the song “Girls Like You”. Blackbox enjoyed constant radio airplay on a major market radio station and getting voted the top song for 13 days straight.

Gregg Potter proudly uses (and endorses) Gibralter Hardware, Sabian Cymbals, Vic Firth Sticks, Aquarian Drumheads, Slug, and Trick Drums. Damon Ranger proudly uses (and endorses) Sennheiser Wireless, Gibson, Bugera Amps, Behringer,. Blackbox has clothing endorsement deals with Dickies, Converse, Salvage, Cut-Throat Fightgear and Marty Flint accessories.

Blackbox is no stranger to collaboration, they are in demand studio musicians and songwriters, in 2010 Damon teamed up with Grammy Award Winner Malik Yusef to start a songwriting partnership to create songs for other signed artists. Damon also teamed up with Grammy Award Winner Rhymefest to write and record a new single for EA Sports. Gregg teamed up with drumming royality Cathy Rich, Daughter of Buddy Rich for a series of drumming videos, studio projects, and to host the 2011 Buddy Rich Memorial Concert.

Damon has a clothing line “DR by Cocomocha” which can be bought in stores nationwide.
