Pew sounds like a singer straight outta Muscle Shoals, the famous Alabama soul sound machine from the '60s. Black Carl is an indie band that effortlessly fuses soul, funk and indie rock. The Tempe, Arizona quintet consists of long time friends Emma Pew (Vocals/Keys), John Krause (Drums), Chad Leonard (Guitar), Ian Woodward (Bass) and Matt Noakes (Guitar).

Black Carl plays a self-described genre of music called Desert Soul. They have finished recording a follow-up album to their well-received debut BORROWED. Currently, Black Carl is priming their second full-length release with a subscription based record club. Fans sign up, pay one price and are shipped 7" vinyl records as they are recorded and pressed.
