Biography

With so many artists doing music today, the hip hop game has become watered down.  Everyone is just following trends and strictly in the game for fame and profit. The problem is that the music lacks passion.  The Black Ceaser has come to restore the feeling in hip hop, not by making music for the time but making timeless music.  His new album, The Contradiction, is a captivating and moving debut about the angst of an artist going back and forth about his feeling regarding day to day life.

Growing up in Richmond, VA, and the product of a single parent household, he got his first taste of hip hop when he was 8 years old.  That year, on Christmas, he received a Walkman with a Fat Boys and Beastie Boys tape.  From then on, he was hooked.  When he was 14, he received a karaoke machine for Christmas.  This was probably one of the most influential gifts he ever received as it allowed him to record himself.  Once he could playback what he recorded, he knew that this was what he wanted to do.  At this moment, he realized that this was his dream and nothing would stop him. Influenced by many artists from all genres of music, his music captured everything from having fun and partying to reality music chronicling what was going on in the streets.

As time went on, he made the move to recording in the legendary Kick em to the Curb recording Studio in Richmond, VA where the whos who from VA record.  While recording, he fought against the trappings of life, chasing money and women instead of following his dreams.  His dream of being an artist became stagnated.  Although he stayed recording during this time, he was no longer focused.  

All that I went through led me to the point that I am at now. My debut album, The Contradiction, chronicles me and my struggle between knowing whats right and doing whats right.  From title tracks like Be with Me, which is dedicated to my wife to tracks like Pimpin 101 and My Ho, The Contradiction exposes the vast contrast that most of us fight with on a daily basis.  In the end, I write music based on how I feel at the time.  Although it conflicts with my morals, at the end of the day, my music is me and how I deal with the contradictions in my own life.
