"Hometown Hero Making it Big in Austin"

Lake Charles native Josh LeBlanc started playing music in the local scene before moving to Austin, Texas, to form the rock band Black Heart Saints.
LeBlanc is the lead singer of the band, which recently played at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin for the third year.
Other band members are Mark Sean, guitar player from Fort Wayne, Ind.; E.J. Laurel, bass player from Laredo, Texas; and Nathan Flores, drummer from San Antonio.
LeBlanc said music has interested him since he “could walk.”
He said musical talent runs in the family. His father Michael LeBlanc is a singer, his brother Todd Walker is a DJ (DJ Scott High), and another brother, Mikey McGraw, is a guitar player.
“Music is an outlet for me to express myself in ways of more than just words,” LeBlanc said.
“It’s a way for me to connect with people of all different races and backgrounds.”
LeBlanc’s message to his fans is “find out what your passion is about and go after it.”
Sean’s message for fans: “Have a good time all the time.”
LeBlanc and Sean said the band’s musical influences include The Black Crowes, Glenn Hughes, Led Zeppelin, and Guns N’ Roses.
Black Heart Saints plays in Lake Charles every few months.

"Texan Band Uses Puddle Of Mudd's Abandoned Facebook To Plug Their Own Music"

We should have known that, in the Land Of Opportunity, people wouldn't just let Puddle Of Mudd delete their Facebook page and not use that to their advantage.

Indeed, after the Missouri-bred rock outfit eradicated their Facebook presence having been booed off-stage at a concert in Versailles, Ohio — following months of perilously worrying behaviour from unhinged frontman Wes Scantlin — a comparatively little-known act from Austin, Texas, decided to move into the abandoned premises. (Well, that, or Puddle Of Mudd is undergoing an extreme The 1975-esque social media makeover — but they haven't been heard from since the deletion last week.)

As an astute Redditor has pointed out, Black Heart Saints have leaped on the vacant space left by Puddle Of Mudd's open Facebook URL, which now proudly tells users to "Check Out This Band Instead", the page flooded with links and other promotional content for themselves.

The band have even gone so far as to hit up Puddle Of Mudd's management, label and bookers as a potential replacement act who would never dream of totally squandering a life in music, Scantlin-style. - TheMusic.com.au

Bio

With a dynamic, original sound founded upon an explosive stage show, Black Heart Saints surrounds audiences with unapologetic, aggressive rock that begs to be experienced live. After debuting at Texas Rockfest in 2014, this powerhouse quartet has been building a solid reputation as a support act for national touring bands such as Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, The Cult, Sevendust, Nonpoint, Filter, POD, Tantric, Everclear, Pop Evil, Alien Ant Farm, The Winery Dogs, Quiet Riot, Coheed & Cambria, and more.

The soaring vocals of front-man Josh Ross have drawn comparisons to Myles Kennedy and Chris Cornell. While the band is influenced by the likes of Mötley Crüe, Guns ‘N Roses, and other legendary Hard Rock acts, the commanding presence of Black Heart Saints’ live show brandishes an updated take on the genre.

Quickly conquering some of the biggest stages and festivals in the United States, Black Heart Saints has built an impressive resume in less than a year after forming, and has been recognized as one of the nation's top emerging rock acts:

Austin Chronicle Music Awards: Top 10 Best New Bands
– Austin Music Foundation Artist of the Month, March 2017
– San Antonio’s Fiesta Oyster Bake Headliner
– SXSW Performer
– Texas Rockfest 2015 & 2016 Performer
– Buffalo Trace Battle of the Bands Grand Prize Winner
– ESPN X Games Austin Performer

In 2014, Black Heart Saints represented their hometown at the ESPN X Games in Austin, and performed along with several national headliners such as Kanye West, The Flaming Lips, Gary Clark, Jr., and more. Last year wrapped up with several completed regional tours, which have firmly established the band as a premier force in new music.

The band's first release - "Black Heart Saints EP" - is currently getting radio play on several FM stations throughout Texas and the West Coast, and has received overwhelmingly positive reviews by some of the most prominent rock critics and bloggers, which has boosted demand for the band's live appearances tremendously. Currently topping online music store sales charts, the EP has also enjoyed success at select retailers such as Austin's own beloved Waterloo Records.

2015 kicked off with key performances during Texas Rockfest, and Fiesta Oyster Bake in San Antonio. The band also went back to the studio to record a string of upcoming singles produced by Omar Vallejo at Austin's renowned 512 Studios.

After debuting their first official music video for the hit single “Touch The Sky” on MTV, VEVO, and YouTube, Black Heart Saints is poised to launch a memorable international career with ambitions to dominate stages across the globe. Half-way through 2016, the band gained nationwide airplay on Sirius XM’s Octane and Faction channels. Released in September 2016, the single “Gasoline” features an accompanying music video produced by acclaimed director Taylor Fredricks.

In 2017, the band received two major accolades: Black Heart Saints was chosen as Austin Music Foundation's Artist of the Month, and received a spot in the top 10 Best New Bands in Austin Chronicle's Austin Music Awards for 2016-2017.

Most recently, the band has been catapulted to the forefront of Texas hard rock after supporting POD, Skillet, Adelita’s Way, Ratt, and Puddle of Mudd on their Texas tour dates. An action-packed summer 2017 kicks off with the release of the full-length album entitled "ALIVE" as well as the “Road to Sturgis Tour 2017” will put Black Heart Saints’ charismatic live performance to the test when the band takes the stage at the world-renowned motorcycle rally, which is predicted to see be attended by over 500,000 bikers from all around the globe.
