Bio
Before poetry was big business there was Lamar Manson, known throughout the spoken word community as Black Ice. Black Ice is a prolific artist, who bridges the gap between hip-hop and poetry. Black Ice has lent his genius to the Live 8 concert in Philadelphia, and has made TV appearances on BET, NBC, VH1 & HBO starring in five consecutive seasons of HBOs Def Poetry Jam. He was also cast as a lead member in The Tony Award Winning Def Poetry on Broadway. Black Ices talents are also showcased on releases by Pete Rock, Method Man and Fabolous. He received the Hip-Hop Quotable from Source Magazine was hailed by Rolling Stone Magazine as the best thing on Method Mans 2004 release, Tical 0: the Prequel. But the works that more closely define Black Ices vision are those where he uses his craft to uplift the masses and stimulate social change.
