Formed in the Summer of 2011 in Owen Sound ON, a hub for country music and retirement homes. 4 guys with with a love for hardcore and punk music decided to give Owen Sound something to move to, and that's where BlackJaw started. Right from the start the band pumped out an albums worth of original songs that would later be featured on their demo album "Keep Complaining". Mixing hardcore elements and punk rock together they found their sound.
No other band has ever been formed out of Owen Sound that mixes a post hardcore sound with punk like BlackJaw. Bringing something new to the table was the main goal of this band.
After playing their first show at a local venue a local show promoter asked BlackJaw to join the Lineup for Rock The Beach 2012, which is a annual outdoor concert that has featured the Cancer Bats in the past.
