Black Lady Soul

Black Lady Soul hails from the Hip Hop crazed suburb of Brampton, and the hard rocking town of Ajax. The resulting mix is uniquely Sub-Urban and unlike any other preconceived notion of style and sound. We formed specifically for a charity event in June of 2012, and found that there was something special about the sound coming out of this band. It wasn't rap, it wasn't rock and it wasn't even in between. It was the sound of four tradesmen, experts at their individual crafts, doing what served the songs - not themselves. It was the sound of nearly a decade of careful study, across all genres, styles and techniques, coming to fruition. Musicianship in today's age of digital song writing isn't as appealing to budding young artists as it used to be, and we seek to change that. As other new music surges forward, we look to the forgotten past - the Bernard Purdies, and Bootsie Colins - for support. We truly understand that our position is on the shoulders of giants and we bring that respect and homage to the rooms we fill. Our electricity is the power of human imagination, courage and respect.
