Bio
The Black Lung Inner City Choir (BLICC) made it’s debut in Taichung, Taiwan in the Spring of 2002 as a guitar duo (Nick Fothergil and Patrick Reid) entertaining “expatriates” and locals alike with their melodic guitar phrasing and beautiful vocal harmony. One such expatriate (Brad Whitmore), who was handling dual percussion and singing roles in another band at the time, needed only to listen to one set of BLICC to decide that he should approach the duo to see if a third voice and strong rhythmic undertones might complement what was being created. After one afternoon jam together, Nick, Brad, and Pat knew a tight-knit trio was in the works. After a few months, BLICC was enjoying coverage by the press, and was being described in The China Post as, “… a talented group of Westerners with very strong vocals who jump from guitar to drums and back with ease, switching instruments and harmonizing vocals like they live in each other’s back pockets.” (April 2, 2004)
After earning their spot on most of the major stages in Taiwan, BLICC returned to Canada in the summer of 2004 to bring their music back to their native soil. Music lovers in Toronto enjoyed their performances in both the entertainment district and the Cabbage Town areas. Their debut CD has been recorded and will be released in the Spring of 2005.
