"Black Magnolia Live Show Review"

An air of anticipation hits you immediately upon walking into a venue where Black Magnolia takes the stage. Friendly, if unfamiliar faces greet you as your order a drink and begin to tell you of how you are about to be blown away. “There is absolutely no way,” you are told, “that you are not going to have a good time!” To look at the stage during setup is to wonder if you are looking at a younger, fresher version of Metallica gearing up to rock the faces off the crowd. As guitar strings are tuned and microphones checked, it is impossible to not get a feeling of excitement rising up in your gut.

Suddenly, lights are extinguished and the stage becomes the focal point of every person in attendance. These guys grab you right up out of your seat with the first note and hold on with a steely euphoric grip as they take you through a musical experience one wouldn’t expect. The only free moment of thought not engulfed in music is “these dudes are local?” The band’s set is mixed with a variety of sounds but all common to a genre that is rock. The covers are played with a surprising fidelity. The originals, however, revive the pulse of good music untainted by the conveyor belt stock sound that plagues radio today.

The walk back to the car is only a half conscious effort as recollections of the evening’s events play through your head. The only thing plainly evident is the fact that each and every one of your friends must see this band. You believe that this might in fact be the first time that emptying out your wallet for band merchandise will not be followed with a familiar feeling of buyer’s remorse. Clearly, these guys have gained another loyal fan and you are damn proud of it!

Bio

Black Magnolia, a rock band out of Louisiana, is a portrait of youth striving to create a seamless evolution of vintage sound with modern ferocity - a feat they continue to accomplish with each new song recorded and every show played. The band performs with a professionalism not often seen in homegrown bands today. It is their talent, however, that keeps fans jonesing for more. The sound is unique with hints of blues and classic rock that make their inventive styling enjoyable for a wide range of music lovers. They have the look and feel of heavy music with just enough rhythm and sweet harmony to set them apart from most “rock” bands.
The music is comprised of head banging rhythms mixed with guitar solos that elevate the mood to soaring heights. These guys grab you right up out of your seat with the first note and hold on with a steely euphoric grip as they take you through an unexpected musical experience. The songs are captivating and the lyrics exude creative quality.
The lead singer and guitarist, Adam, has a hauntingly melodic voice full of grit. The guitar solos featuring razor sharp notes are nothing short of riveting. Drummer Johnny Sheets pounds out the hard rock beats with full energy, but it is his amazing ability to create rhythms that provide the emotional backbone in softer songs that showcases his presence. Anthony Juneau’s bass provides expressive rhythms that anchor the harmonic framework and keep the crowd in constant motion.
