"Ghost Talk EP Review"

"Despite lifting their name from a blissfully hypnotic Massive Attack groove, Blackmilk's main interest lies in forceful and dark indie-rock. This Perth quartet's intense white noise, as evidenced in Picture This, is thankfully offset with a melody-soaked guitar line, confirming that a focused approach to songwriting is clearly a priority.

As the title suggests, opening track, Nerve Ending, is a frenzied rock-out complete with a tense vocal delivery and unrestrained buzzsaw guitar. Blackmilk are at their best, however, when they allow the driving guitar parts, such as in the title track, to escalate into a fine, hysterical mess.

As a whole, Ghost Talk evokes the strange image of an anxious, panic-stricken Nirvana, or, Radiohead's early flirtation with grunge during the Pablo Honey era. Pop music with an edge."

Bio

Since forming two years ago Blackmilk have deveopled a visceral sound which is on the edge of making its mark.
It all started in the hills of Perth where James and Rick had been writing together, the next step was to bring in Tim Sherry on guitar and John Craft on bass, keeping strong songwriting and intense live shows their focus.
Blackmilk take their love for melody and songwriting and infuse it with an intense live sound, never knowing when it will explode into a fine mess.
Tracks taken from the Ghost Talk demo have recieved airplay on RTRfm 92.1 & southwest station 1611am.

2006 has seen Blackmilk play over 20 shows to this point playing with the likes of Streetlight, The Jacknives, Sugar Army and The Dee Dee Dums. A Western Australia tour is planned for December and a release is intended for mid 2007.
