Biography

Raised on the early releases of Black Sabbath and Metallica, Black Moon is a riff heavy, metal band on speed. Their sound is a defiant nod to the roots of metal while also containing elements of hardcore, doom metal and even punk. This meld of genres comes across naturally and Black Moon manages to do so without falling into sub-genre categories like metalcore.

The band's debut recording was released on DRP Records and Overdose On Records in June of 2006. The release was followed by successful touring, rotation on [major] regional radio stations, ample online sales and positive reviews. Shortly after the album's release Black Moon's drummer left the band. Being a founding member, his departure left the future of the group uncertain. In July of 2007 the band finally recruited drummer Rich Buffum.

Black Moon began tracking songs in August of 2007 for their next release. Demos from that release are available on the band's myspace now.

Lyrics

Plain of Vigrid

Written By: Kiernan

hundreds of people look up to us expecting screams
seems as though nothing could ever become what we dream
how can we push this? how long will this linger on me?
fall to your knees and bow down to me i am your king

you turn your back, walk away and forget us
hope you find what you needed cause
i know its something you will regret
we are true and someday you'll see it

walking away is just one thing youll come to regret
doesnt seem as though we will ever let you forget
you are the center all eyes will be turned to your fame
you swung the hammer but now from the gallows youll hang

you turn your back, walk away and forget us
hope you find what you needed cause
i know its something you will regret
we are true and someday you'll see it

Ezekiel's Wheel

Written By: Kiernan

tear me apart with ideals of greed forcing the bomb from my hands
running as fast as the weight of our needs regret is in eyes and in head

break every piece left of me

Set List

Typical setlists include tracks from the debut release and new material to be released in 2008. "Ezekiel's Wheel", "Into Forever" and "Puppet Government" are accompanied by "Fall of the Snow Lord", "Plain of Vigrid", "Wall to the Sky" and instrumental intros and outros. Covers are far, few and in between but when Black Moon covers another artists songs it usually is Black Sabbath's "Into the Void", "Electric Funeral" or a comical, guitar assault version of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" with musical breakdowns and throaty vocals. Overall a heavy head banging, dark, moody set.
