Friday Danish lo-fi shoegaze duo Black Rose Trick was one half of SpaceScan with the amazingly somber track ‘Love Honey’. During the weekend we had singer Trine Berg Arnoldus do the classic W-dance, resulting in this interview which they apparently like so much that it’s seen fit as their MySpace bio as well. Here goes:
Who?
“Black Rose Trick is the name of a project by Trine Berg and Jacob Falk, both founding members of the dissolved noise/punk/rock act, Defekt. BRT was founded in 2006 and in 2007 we began recording our debut album with producer/engineer Brian Mørch.”
Where?
“Nørrebro, Copenhagen, is where this album is made. We live and breathe for Nørrebro, so we feel quite lucky that we could write and record the album there.”
What?
“Above all we believe in beautiful elements…. We mix dreamy noise rock with simple and beautiful melodies. The result is a music collage with chaotic waves of chiming guitars, but strong melodies to tie it all together. Our music is gloomy and deep, but still we believe it to be beautiful.”
Why?
“This music is a reaction to all the music that has come out the last five years. We feel that there has been a tendency for other bands to make songs with 4-5 songs per number. Black Rose Trick catches one state of mind and clings to it the whole song through. We wanted to make music from the heart that could frame beautiful and edged elements in the same box.
The debut album is now finished and mastered by Anders Schumann and we’re working on getting a contract with a label. Please take a listen and feel the depth of our music.”

Bio
Black Rose Trick
The band's debut album, Love Glove is published on 6 May 2010 on the band's own Velvet Glove Records. The single Black Water is played on Danish Radio P3.
Black Rose Trick is spherical noise rock faced psychedelic power pop, added a rarely seen feminin mystique. The songs are melodic, simple, bordering the naive.
The sound is a mixture of dirty, heroin rock and combined with popped melodic beauty and shoegaze drawing from bands like My Bloody Valentine, Sigur Ros, Sonic Youth and Mazzy Star.
The band formed in Nørrebro in Copenhagen in 2006 by Trine Berg and Jacob Falk, both of which were co-founding the noise / punk band Defekt that rounded an EP in 2005.
The band has over the two years recorded and produced debut album which will be called "Love Glove" in collaboration with Brian Mørk.
Live concerts displaying the original biased whole that is not ussually associated with the music in this genre. Trine's airy vocals are at the center front of an organic wall of music.
The band has particular toured coupled with a show with Brorson´s Church and played live at most venues in Copenhagen.
Guitarist Jacob Falk and Drummer Ah Starr.
are also active members in psychedelic rock act Kandy Kolored Tangerine.
