Black Sand

...The winner was Black Sand, a four-piece classic rock band started by two brothers, Trey and Reece Fiebich. Band members said winning was particularly sweet because they came in second by only one vote in KFOX's Last Band Standing Contest in the 18-and-under category.
The Fiebichs' grandparents were there to cheer them on. Asked whether she liked that kind of deafening music, grandmother Nancy Demichelis said, "Sure, if my grandsons play it."
Guitarist Reece Fiebich, 18, said the band chose the studio time out of the three possible prizes, on top of getting to play at the concert.
"My brother and I are both certified recording engineers through West Valley College, but so far, we've only recorded in our living room," he said. "It'll be interesting to get into an actual studio and get another engineer's take on our music."
If music doesn't work out, Reece Fiebich has a backup plan, his mother, Tami Campbell, said, with relief. He's going to UC Santa Cruz next year and majoring in engineering and physics.
