Beautiful sound boys !!!! The real spirit of the Tijuana Brass.- I am a fan of the TJB and Herb Alpert, and your band "The Black Sombrero Brass" is great.-
Congratulations - from our website guestbook

"Peter Roff of Washington, DC"

I saw you a couple of weeks ago at the Kennedy Center. If I tell you that you were fantastic I would only be repeating what everyone else was saying. I was amazed at how much you all sounded like HA & TJB. When I closed my eyes it was like listening to the records. I don't know if that's a compliment or not -- but it's meant to be. I imagine it must be hard work to sound that much like someone else. - from our website guestbook

"Bobby Vox of Los Angeles, CA"

You guys are amazing! I'm an old guy and have been a music collector for decades, but I have never heard of a TJB cover band until now. I can only imagine how much fun you're all having in this group! Keep up the great work!! - from our website guestbook

"Charlie Crum of Arlington, VA"

Just saw you guys at the free concert in Rosslyn. By far the best of the Arlington Summer Concert series and I don't think it was just the great weather! Keep it up. - from our website guestbook

"Marty Covais"

Love that sound It really sounds classy. I've been playing drums to Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass for about 40 years now never get tired of that great sound. You guys captured that sound to the tee. Herb, Nick, Julius would be proud.
ps if you guys ever need a drummer , give me a call. - from our website guestbook

Discography

We just released our first full-length CD, entitled "Tijuana Road Trip." Our idea was to take tunes from the 60s and before, and create our own arrangements in the style of the Tijuana Brass (tunes that they themselves never recorded).

We also have a "demo" CD containing clips of us playing covers of Tijuana Brass tunes, which is avaible free of charge to anyone who would like one.

Bio

When we tell people that we play the music of Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, they'll often say something like, "Oh, yeah, I used to LOVE that music!" The TJB's sound was so unusual and distinctive that very few bands have tried to recreate it, and so that music hasn't been as fresh in people's minds as other music from that era. But we usually get a smile from people as they recall that great old music... kinda retro, always upbeat, tasteful, but with a healthy dose of good humor. We get very favorable feedback from our audiences and fans, and there are many kind comments in the guestbook on our website and on our Myspace page.

Dan and Zack got the idea to create a TJB tribute band a few years ago while on the long drive home from yet another unremarkable gig... somebody mentioned Herb Alpert's name in passing, and the other said something like "Oh yeah... I used to LOVE that music!" and "Do you remember that Whipped Cream ALBUM COVER?!" We agreed that, as trumpet players, it would be a blast to play those wonderful tunes, and the only way to do that was to start our own band.
