"Black Tiger Sex Machine - "Rhythm Mode" (Charlie Darker Remix)"

Just a few short weeks after remixing Diplo and Don Diablo's "Make You Pop" and cracking the Beatport Top 100 Electro House chart, Charlie Darker is back with another hard-hitting banger. This time, the young Canadian attacks Black Tiger Sex Machine's "Rhythm Mode," released May 1st on Montreal-based Kannibalen Records.

With his new remix, Canada's latest Electro export is offering a small tease of his new sound. Coupling mighty kicks with crunchy basslines, Darker moves seamlessly between a fierce synth progression and a powerful drop that flips through violent distortion and a dub-inspired screech. Not one to disappoint, he showcases his versatile production skill with what might be his greatest work yet. If his remix of "Rhythm Mode" has left you impressed, take note of the young talent because there is a lot more of where that came from. Charlie Darker's debut EP, highlighting his move into Electro House, will be released this summer along with a number of singles and new remixes on various labels. - Earmilk

"Black Tiger Sex Machine"

Hailing from the French boulder of Canada, which is Montreal, very few people contain the valuable knowledge the EDM scene has to offer like triple threat DJ/Producers Black Tiger Sex Machine. Taking shape in 2009, these boys have dominated every beck and corner of night life in the beautiful metropolis. With their successful monthly event “Kannibalen”, it seems like things never stop for this group. Here is a little recent chat I had with them for the site. They were kind enough to speak about the scene, their personal lives and their favorite spots to dine in Montreal. Enjoy!

What was ‘life’ before turning to music? Tell us about yourselves !
Patrick: I’ve been friends with Marc since elementary school, and we met Julien in high school. Marc then went to university in Ontario, where he got into a DJing. At the same time, Julien and I decided to start making electronic music back in 2007, and we started DJing here as well. When Marc came back to Montreal in the summer of 2009, we linked up to form Black Tiger Sex Machine. In the last year things have been getting a more serious with our music. Julien is actually a lawyer, but he put his career on hold to focus on BTSM and on the label. When I finished University, I just never got a job because I wanted to do this instead.

You guys have started your own label called Kannibalen Records, after your highly successful monthly gig. What stirred it all for you?
Julien: We think it’s time for Montreal electro/dubstep artists to have a label they can relate to. There’s some good local talent here, but many of them don’t know where to start. With BTSM, we’ve done everything ourselves since the beginning, from booking and promo to event planning with Kannibalen. That’s allowed us to control our music and our image. We’ve learnt a lot, and now we think we’re in a position where we can help young talent flourish without compromising themselves.

What do you guys love about the music scene in Montreal?
Marc-André: Montreal has an extremely vibrant and diverse scene. There are shows and festivals all year long. There’s something to do here everything night of the week. The fact that there is a large student population because of all the universities here also helps drive the scene. People are also very open-minded to new music (at least the venues we play at); making it a real joy to DJ in Montreal.

Do you see an evolution in what crowds are looking for?
Julien: There will always be evolution. Trends change really quickly. Locally, dubstep really exploded since 2009, and in a couple of years the popular sound will be completely different. There’s a lot of competition too, as so many people want to DJ, so you always have to reinvent yourself to stay relevant.

Have you met any other top notch producers that have really surprised you?
Patrick: Montreal is full of young top notch producers making noise that each have their own style: Dooze Jackers, Elo!i & Heights, Adventure Club, Vakkuum, Marc Remillard, Botnek, Prince Club. There are too many to list here, not to mention veterans like Poirier and Tiga. We’re discovering some new talents right now that will soon be revealed through Kannibalen Records.

Describe your sound?
Julien : That’s a question people always ask us because we have been producing and DJing many genres of electronic music. People are always suprised to see us one day rage some hard electro and see us the following day spinning house and tech. Our productions have followed the same path. Altough, we are currently releasing more electro and techno tracks; the BTSM sound will probably always be spread across various genres.

Do drugs fuel our industry?
Patrick: I wouldn’t say that they fuel our industry. There are definitely some people at any big events or at raves that are on something, but I don’t believe it is everyone. None of us are into drugs, and we know a lot of people who come to our parties and just stick to having some drinks. You don’t need to take MDMA to enjoy electronic music.

Whats your opinion on music blogs?
Julien: We love music blogs. It’s a great way for artists to get their name out. It’s also good for DJs like us because we can discover new tracks or producers and stay up to date with the industry. Blogs are a bit like filters which select and post some of the best tracks, so it saves time for us as we don’t have to slog through every new release to find those hidden gems.

You guys recently released your first free EP on your record label, tell me how that process was?
Marc-André: Very hectic, we have been very busy with organizing the whole platform and website behind Kannibalen Records. Also, we worked hard to build up a nice team to do all we want to do with the label.
Julien: In retrospect, we could have used a little more time but we wanted the label to launch at the same time as the 1 year anniversary of Kannibalen. Making the first release a free one eased u - Your Friends House

"GET FAMILIAR • Montreal’s Black Tiger Sex Machine to Invade Dubsmack"

“The three members of Black Tiger Sex Machine return to Earth to find it ravaged by the Kannibalen Disease. Donning protective armor to shield them from infection and armed with a new weapon called Rhythm Mode, they venture out into the blighted wasteland that has become their planet, seeking out allies to help them stop the evil Doctor Kannibalen once and for all!” – Rhythm Mode EP

Every great EDM group has a story and this monstrous Montreal trio is no different. Donning their gothic attire and trademark LED lit tiger helmets to each of their live shows, Black Tiger Sex Machine (BTSM) have made incredible name for themselves as part of the city’s gritty, bass-driven musical underground. BTSM has not only set themselves apart through their unique pulse-pounding and horror-themed monthly event Kannibalen, but founded their very own record label—Kannibalen Records—for up-and-coming new EDM producers and DJs, a label that is home to other artists such as Apashe, Dooze Jackers, and Dabin! Before BTSM invades Ritual Nightclub (Ottawa) for Dubsmack on Oct 19th, here is what you need to know about these crazy electronic superheroes.

The Sights…

BTSM was founded about three and half years ago in May 2009 and is composed of three members — Foxed Up (Patrick Barry), Marx Menace (Marc-André Chagnon), and Wolfcall (Julien Maranda). Exploding into Montreal nightlife, the group became known for “a unique show which is part DJ-set, part live, in which they combine tracks, loops, samples and synths into an intense barrage of sounds and beats.” BTSM has continued to craft their dark symphony over the three separate EPs, their monthly Kannibalen show at Belmont nightclub with other Montreal-based producers, and larger EDM festivals such as Igloofest 2012 with Diplo! In late 2011, they founded their record label, “aiming to give local artists opportunities to gain international visibility and exposure,” and they have been an unstoppable force ever since.

The Scene…

Welcome to Planet Tigra! Enter Black Tiger Sex Machine, the armoured post-apocalyptic superhero trio here to rid the world of stale tunes and feed the massive bass hungry zombie hordes of Montreal and the World!

BTSM has certainly created an image for themselves. Their EP descriptions, monthly party at the Belmont, and their record label all ‘feed’ into this ongoing narrative of a battle between BTSM “on a quest to save the universe from evil with their superpowers of funky sounds and pounding beats” and the evil doctor Kannibalen with his zombie mass. Kannibalen Records had this to say about its monthly Kannibalen party:

“Originally conceived as a cannibal-themed party, Kannibalen has rapidly become the must-attend event in Montreal by calling on tribe members to vote for monthly costume concepts and take part in creating a universe like no other. Every month, Montreal’s Belmont nightclub transforms into a flesh-eating tribal party as masses of hungry cannibals line up to devour earth-shaking beats from BTSM, Dooze Jackers and Elo!i & Heights.”

BTSM is not just a group or simply a party, it is a world! Are you hungry?

The Sounds…

Grimy and gut-wrenching, BTSM seamlessly traverses several genres of EDM, including dubstep, drumstep, electrohouse, and even Moombahcore, to produce a syncretic fusion of gothic underground synths with banging bass and wobble. Between Dec 6, 2011 and May 1, 2012, the group has released three EPs—The Kannibalen Anthem, Drama, and Rhythm Mode—as well as other original singles and collaborations with artists such as Dooze Jackers, Elo!i & Heights, Jay & Nedd, Vakkuum, Marc Remillard, Charlie Darker, and Dabin! My absolute favourites from this widespread sonic platter and tunes you should definitely check out before this month’s Dubsmack are BTSM’s “Kill My Soul” collaboration with Dabin, BTSM’s remix of Dabin’s Electropolitics, and BTSM’s very own “The Kannibalen Anthem,” the latter which, it is rumoured, is commonly used to close their sets!

BTSM also has a much anticipated new EP set for release on Oct 16 of this month—just three days before Dubsmack—called Studs, Spikes & Blood! So you should definitely pick up your tickets and get out to Dubsmack w. Black Tiger Sex Machine ? Ritual (Ottawa) ? October 19th for some of their freshest meat…I mean material to date! Here is the EP description from BTSM:

“The Kannibalen virus has become uncontrollable. Strange new mutations have started appearing: the Infected are now smarter, stronger and hungrier. To stem the tide of darkness, Black Tiger Sex Machine has assembled a ragtag team of miscreants, punks and renegades who’ve managed to avoid infection. This squad of nomadic zombie-killers now fights beside BTSM, hunting down the Infected and seeking out the source of the virus.

Their quest has become their religion – their name: Studs, Spikes & Blood.”

Their quest has become their religion – their name: Studs, Spikes & Blood.

Black Tiger Sex Machine are the brains behind the Kannibalen infection and it’s only begun to spread, with no end in sight. Their newest offering, Studs, Spikes & Blood, was released on Tuesday and it’s one hell of a massive record. Comprised of 3 original mixes and 3 remixes; there’s a ton of electro house madness, as well as a big gnarly dubstep gem, aboard this EP. Touching on everything from techno to acid to heavy electro, there’s something for everyone on this EP – and with remix duties from Kai Wachi, Pornorockerz and Seek N Destroy, there’s a huge variety in production styles.

The preview mix begins with the title track, Rezorecta. Being dubbed as “Punk Rock Techno,” Rezorecta is a dark production with heavy, grinding synths and crunchy bass; punctuated with a single haunting vocal sample. All 3 remixes in this package are of this title track, so you can expect to hear it played by numerous DJs in the months to come.
Next up is the massive acid-influenced production, Vatican. Following a long build comprised of claps, acid synths and a soothing top-line, you’re slammed square in the face with some tasty 303 action. This is one seriously funky production. I absolutely love the heavy synth intrusion they’ve included. It really adds an extra degree of oomph.
Coven is easily my favorite track on the EP; and is without a doubt one of the more creative songs I’ve heard in a while. As soon as it enters the preview, they create a rather trippy soundscape in the build, utilizing synths and sounds I haven’t heard before. The low-end growling bass line enters and is quickly paired with a thumping 4×4 beat, which carries you through to the end of the preview. I was definitely left wanting more of this one.

The first remix of Rezorecta in this preview mix comes from Kai Wachi. This is one seriously brutal dubstep gem, in the best way possible. If I had to pick one word to describe this song, for some reason I feel like I would use “murder.” High-pitch synths, low growling bass and laser interruptions working in perfect harmony, primed for spilt blood.
The remix from Pornorockerz is a venture back into the acid-ier side of things. Maintaining a heavy electro feel through-out the build, the drop is comprised of rolling, acid-influenced synths, with some big-room styled synths working much like that intrusion in Vatican.
Lastly, Seek N Destroy finishes up the mix with the heaviest electro tune on the whole EP and will definitely have you thrashing about. With bass heavy growls of this magnitude, his remix of Rezorecta we might have a few scared people. This is one not for the faint of heart, but don’t be a pussy about it.

"The Breakdown 022"

Let’s start today’s post off with a group of guys by the name of Black Tiger Sex Machine. The BTSM boys, hailing from Montreal, Que., have just released their newest EP, Rhythm Mode, to Beatport on May 1. This seven-track EP has already been receiving massive support. Right now, their drumstep collaboration, Kill My Soul, with fellow Canadian, Dabin is charting on Beatport at #67 in dubstep and was also sitting at the second hottest track on SoundCloud, just behind Dada Life.

Who is Black Tiger Sex Machine?

Black Tiger Sex Machine is a Montreal-based DJ/Production outfit composed of three superheroes: Foxed Up, Marx Menace and Wolfcall. On a quest to save the universe from evil with their superpowers of funky sounds and pounding beats, they’ve spent the past year working on tracks and playing alongside other musical talents such as Avicii, Rusko, Wolfgang Gartner, Diplo, Calvin Harris, Porter Robinson and many many more. After gaining exposure on Montreal’s nightlife scene with the massive success of their Kannibalen events at local hotspot Belmont, BTSM have since launched Kannibalen Records, a fresh new label aimed at giving fellow Montreal artists more international exposure. With their continued success, their new label and numerous upcoming releases, it’s no wonder that the force of these superheroes is unstoppable. Be on the lookout for big things in the near future from BTSM! Oh yeah, they perform on four decks and wear custom built tiger helmets. You gotta check out the video below.

Below is the promo mix for their newly released Rhythm Mode EP, taken from Black Tiger Sex Machine‘s SoundCloud. The mix opens with the title track, Rhythm Mode featuring a strong buildup that’s tied together with a nice little vocal sample before it drops into a high energy tune that is guaranteed to have the dance floor jumping. A fat buzzing bassline, solid pounding drums and vocal stabs have me bouncing about in my chair at 5:15 a.m.
Up next in the mix and EP is their wildly successful collabo, Kill My Soul, with Dabin. The track opens with a captivating, melodic synth lead which builds into pure bass madness. Never a dull moment with this tune, there is so much going on. This level of production is something everyone should strive for. They’ve got one low growling/laughing synth in their that completely creeps me the fuck out and I LOVE it.
From here, the mix takes a deeper and darker turn with the boys from BTSM exploring their techno and house influences. Sub Shocka is a simple tune with a very minimal drop. Don’t be fooled … that bass is fat. I love their vocal samples. Very fun! They only give a small taste of Sub Shocka in this mix, so be careful you don’t overlook this gem!
From here on, we’ve got four remixes to round out the EP.
Up first is a moombahton/moombahcore banger from Milo & Otis, that I’ll personally be playing every opportunity I get. For those of you who don’t know, Milo & Otis is the combined efforts of Killagraham and NYMZ,so you know everything they touch is more than likely about to turn to gold. The boys slow it down a bit and give us a straight rave tune! High pitch laser synths shooting off in every which way. Booty shaking music.
Charlie Darker is next on the EP with his take on the title track. I absolutely love this EP and I feel fairly damn comfortable saying this is one of the most enjoyable EPs I have heard in a while. There really is something here for everyone and I love the fact that a couple of the remixers on this album have already been featured on The Breakdown. Anyways, I digress. Back to the music. Charlie gives the original a little extra boost, turning it into a big room heater. Utilizing the sample more than the original through out the build, this one is absolutely delicious. It ended the electro house chart on Beatport Tuesday at #99!
Zimo lends his hand and gives us an electro monster. Heavy bass and synth stabs are sure to keep this one a dance floor favourite. I love the chip tune/8-bit style buildup!
Finally, we’re gonna slow things down once more with Fellow and his moombahton remix. Fellow takes the track and transforms it with his dark tropical sound, throwing bouncy island percussion and vocal samples over the original bass line. Have a listen to the mix below and then make sure you head to Beatport and pick up a copy now!

As a bonus, check out this free download from BTSM and Dabin, Dark Speakers. This tune has a dark tech feel right up until it drops. A playful, rolling drum beat and a nice laughter-esque vocal sample take you to the first quick build. From there it drops into a fat buzzing bass line. Add a touch of modern talking, bring back that vocal sample and you’ve got a monster of a tune … and it’s free! Check it below! - DJ MAG CANADA

"NTD Interview: Black Tiger Sex Machine"

For those of you that prefer sleeping under rocks in lieu of comfortable bedding, Montreal DJ/Producer trio Black Tiger Sex Machine have been buzzing internationally this year with their unique brand of funk and disco inspired beats. NTD interviewed the trio composed of Patrick Barry, Julien Maranda and Marc-Andre Chagnon to discuss their art. Before you even get a chance to question their talent, hit play on the first track from their latest EP “Silk Bones”

How did you come together as a group?

We’ve been friends for a long time; we all come from the same neighbourhood in Montreal and went to school together. A few years ago, Marc left to go to university in Ontario and started DJing there. Meanwhile, Patrick and Julien started working on a music project in 2008. Marc came back in the summer of 2009, and we’ve been working together since then.

Your EP has gained support from some popular blogs including Mad Decent, We Like It Indie and Musigh. It’s had its fair share of success on Hype Machine as well. How does all this internet success make you feel?

It feels good to know that there are people who appreciate what we’re doing; it motivates us to keep working. We put our first EP out for free because we wanted it to reach the most people possible and we were happy with the response.

Your music is very funky, very disco. Have you always made music of this style? How did this sound emerge?

When we first started DJing, we were big into hard electro stuff, but we started incorporating a more funk/disco influenced sound as time progressed. We generally try to make our stuff as fun and dance-y as possible, and the disco and funk sounds fit perfectly into that vibe. It’s also a by-product of the songs we’ve been listening to recently, from old bands like the Bar-Kays to current groups like Duck Sauce.

Wildest show you played this year?

We throw a monthly party in Montreal called Kannibalen that’s completely nuts. We do it with a few other local acts : Dooze Jackers, Mad Ones and Eloi. We play a mix of really hard tribal beats with some dubstep. We get 600 kids out and everyone’s dressed up and going crazy. We actually threw the first one on a week’s notice. The venue where it happens, Belmont, had an open night on a Friday and asked us if we could do something. We accepted, and it turned out to be our biggest show ever. We’ve done a few other events at Belmont, and it’s a great venue with great staff

Favorite artists of 2010?

Riva Starr, Round Table Knights, Rubix, Duck Sauce, Heavy Feet, Jean Tonique, Go Go Bizkitt! …

We’ve also got to mention few upcoming Montreal artists who did big things in 2010, like Dooze Jackers and Prince Club. There’s a lot of talent here.

What’s next for BTSM?

We’re working on a new EP right now and it’ll be out in January. We’re also currently doing a remix for our friends Micro Prophet.

Show-wise, we’ve got our Christmas edition of Kannibalen on December 17th at Belmont, and we’re also playing NYE at Belmont with Poirier, so if you’re in Montreal, come check us out. We’ve also got a monthly residency with Mary Hell called Lick where we bring in a local artist or designer to host the night every month; the next one’s the first week of January. Besides that, we’ve got some more exciting events coming up in the first half of 2011, and hopefully we can play some dates outside of Montreal. - Neon Tape Deck

Interview with Black Tiger Sex Machine: The Montreal Trio Behind Kannibalen is Definitely in Rhythm Mode

Barely a year after kicking off their uber popular monthly events at the Belmont, Kannibalen, a.k.a. Patrick Barry, Julien Maranda and Marc-André Chagnon, made their official debut in the techno music production scene last fall as Black Tiger Sex Machine. Their first EP, Drama, was launched on their namesake label, Kannibalen Records.

Fast forward to present day, the Belmont continues to host the now notorious parties, while Kannibalen Records has already signed a dozen artists and produced six records, the last of which was released just this month by the founders themselves. We met with BTSM to get a feel for their approach as well as their second production, Rhythm Mode.

What musical currents, labels, DJs and producers do you identify with?
Justice and Daft Punk have and continue to be a huge influence. However, it's now the artists of Kannibalen Records that provide us with the greatest inspiration. Kannibalen has become more than just a monthly event; it's also a label and a family. We spend hours together, honing our techniques and supporting each other any way we can. It's the best way to drive our conquest of the international market, by joining forces.

How do you split up the production work? Do you have a typical routine?
Patrick studied violin for a few years, so he usually gets the ball rolling. The teamwork kicks in immediately afterwards. While we have different strengths and weaknesses, we each try to share in every aspect of the production process.

What is the motivation behind your creative endeavors?
Given the success of Kannibalen events, we certainly want to continue performing new material at the monthly parties, but that isn't necessarily what we have in mind when we begin a number. Although we try to follow certain guidelines in our productions, what's most important, is really to just go with the flow and keep people dancing.

We're trying more and more to align our productions with the Igloofest event that featured tiger headdresses, and produce numbers that are in sync with the mysterious universe of BTSM and the new show.

What keeps you busier: music production or events?
Production takes up a lot of our time, but the events - Société Perrier

"Studs, Spikes & Blood"

"Black Tiger Sex Machine - Studs, Spikes & Blood EP"

BLACK TIGER SEX MACHINE released their new EP titled Studs, Spikes & Blood on Kannibalen Records. There couldn’t be three other words that describe these songs better. The Kannibalen virus has become uncontrollable and strange new mutations have started appearing: the Infected are now smarter, stronger and hungrier. To stem the tide of darkness, BLACK TIGER SEX MACHINE has assembled a ragtag team of miscreants, punks and renegades who’ve managed to avoid infection. This squad of nomadic zombie-killers now fights beside BLACK TIGER SEX MACHINE, hunting down the Infected and seeking out the source of the virus. Their quest has become their religion – their name: Studs, Spikes & Blood.
The EP features three original tracks by the Montreal-based trio, as well as three remixes. The first EP’s first track, Rezorecta, is a pounding barrage of dark melodies, anthemic rises and speaker-crushing bass hits, punctuated by a single, threatening vocal sample. The second cut, Vatican, draws influences from several genres of EDM, with its trance-style leads, acid-house bass line and 808 drums. The last original, Coven, is unabashed electro fun, driven by a phased-out synth riff and a classic, four-to-the-floor beat.
Rezorecta also gets the remix treatment from three vastly different artists. KAI WACHI’s dubstep version uses the original’s melody to craft one of his signature haunting buildups which revs up into ear-shattering synth madness. Italian duo PORNOROCKERZ’ take is a dance-floor ready acid techno jam. Australian producer SEEK N DESTROY turns the distortion into overdrive in his aggressive electro trash remix which is sure to melt faces around the world.

"Black Tiger Sex Machine - Studs, Spikes & Blood EP"

It’s a weird scene we’re in. The dubstep kids are PLUR as fuck and the electro kids are PLUR as fuck and yet they can’t stop making fun of each other. Meanwhile the techno kids hate both of them. This might be why I’m not usually a fan of EPs featuring a ton of different genres. In my opinion throwing a bunch of genres together on the same release rarely works. It’s like you’re throwing away the EP’s cohesion in an attempt to create a varied experience. But that’s why I think Black Tiger Sex Machine deserve some real recognition for this release. It’s a mix of dubstep, electro and techno and somehow everyone gets along. No matter what kind of EDM you usually listen to, if you like one of the songs from Studs, Spikes and Blood, you will like them all.

Black Tiger Sex Machine is hands down Montreal’s best satanic tiger head wearing 3 person electro cult. I’m afraid to say, they’re back with a murderous new EP. Studs, Spikes and Blood is everything you would expect from a name like Studs, Spikes and Blood. It’s dark, aggressive and sexy dance music. The EP features 3 originals (‘Rezorecta’, ‘Vatican’, ‘Coven’) and 3 remixes of ‘Rezorecta’ from Kai Waichi, Pornorockerz and Seek N Destroy.

The EP begins with ‘Rezorecta’, a particularly dark example of the 4 to the floor brutality we’ve come to expect from the trio. ’Rezorecta’ features huge anthemic breakdowns followed by driving synth powerchord drops. It’s all about the imagery and feel of metal applied to dance music. ’Vatican’ is my pick for the best on the EP. If you check up on this blog regularly you know I have a bit of a weakness for electro-techno. Really anything featuring a blaring distorted 303 with the resonance cranked way up gets my juices flowing. Vatican is acid with attitude. If you’re in the mood for more driving techno, do not skip the Pornorockerz remix of Rezorecta. It’s the perfect dark techno complement to the original.

The best thing about Black Tiger Sex Machine is how complete of an image they created. From their tiger helmets to the ridiculous name to the dark themes of their videos, everything exactly matches the horrifyingly morbid yet danceable personality of their music. If you want a full musical experience, pick up this EP and get to know Black Tiger Sex Machine. Studs, Spikes and Blood is available now from Kannibalen Records on Beatport. Be sure to check out the absurdity that is the Rezorecta music video below.

"Load Up on Your Leather, Because Black Tiger Sex Machine is Getting Murderous"

The latest music video for Canadian DJ group Black Tiger Sex Machine still does not offer us any information as to where they got their name, but their signature Tiger Helmets do make an appearance. Watch the video for Rezorecta as three modern goth girls paint their lips strange colors and “take care of business” regarding another friend who must have done something very wrong. Find out how she fares in the music video after the jump. - Fashion Indie

"Black Tiger Sex Machine - Rhythm Mode EP"

Fresh on the heels of the macabre techno anthem Dark Speakers released at the beginning of April, Montreal’s infamous Kannibalen Records, and its founders, the feral techno trio known as Black Tiger Sex Machine, are back with a brand new EP.

Featuring 3 original tracks and four remixes, Rhythm Mode is one of the most terrifying slices of rave destruction that you are likely to come across this side of the Atlantic. Black Tiger Sex Machine have huge local support, due to their monthly event at Le Belmont bar, the debauchery-filled serotonin overdrive known as Kannibalen. I’ve seen them featured on a few major blogs over the past few years, but in the interim, these guys have honed and perfected their production and DJ skills, and are ready for global domination.

Just to give you an idea of their potential, check out this great video that showcases their set at Montreal’s most ravenous event, the mighty Igloofest. I was there, and although my memories of that evening are pretty hazy, I do remember them ripping the crowd to shreds.

Here’s the full soundcloud set for your enjoyment. I’ve featured my two favorite songs off the EP, the atomic warehouse decimator feared around the world called Sub Shocka, and the title track Rhythm Mode. Both tunes are peak-hour bangers likely to cause spontaneous combustion in any unsuspecting dancefloor it is dropped on. However, the remixes are pretty insane as well, and well worth checking out.

If you enjoy the vibes, we suggest that you go and buy Black Tiger Sex Machine’s Rhythm Mode EP on Beatport right HERE. Totally uncompromising and undeniably heavy, this is a release that deserves your full support.

Montreal’s underground is alive, and its bloodlust is at at all-time high. Retreat into your panic rooms, the Black Tiger Sex Machine pandemic is hitting your shores. - Avenge The Virgins

"Black Tiger Sex Machine & Dabin - Kill My Soul (Original Mix)"

Black Tiger Sex Machine & Dabin are here and killing it. What a couple of intense tracks. The collaboration brings forth some insanely good drumstep. For those unfamiliar, Black Tiger Sex Machine is made up of three members, Foxed Up, Marx Menace and Wolfcall. Witness the BTSM legend in video form above. The group is based out of Montreal. They have spent the better part of last year working with some huge names in the industry. Porter Robinson, Diplo, Avicii, Gemini, and 16bit to name a few. Having gained much popularity, Black Tiger Sex Machine launched Kannibalen Records, aimed at housing Montreals up and comers. Always nice to see musicians giving back to the community and remembering back to the struggles of up-and-coming artists. Find this particular tune on their recent EP, Rhythm Mode. a fantastic piece of work, host to an array of seriously talented multi-genre producers. Listen up and enjoy. - sublvl.

Bio

BTSM is a 3-man collective of electronic music producers and DJs based in Montreal. They perform a unique show which is part DJ-set, part live, in which they combine tracks, loops, samples, drums and synths into an intense barrage of sounds and beats, all while wearing their trademark Tiger Helmets.
