Bio

Blair Harvey is a singer/songwriter from St. John’s NL. His music career emerged in 2000 as a busker in St. John’s. With three chords, a cheap guitar and a shaky voice Blair set out on a cross Canada music lesson from Newfoundland to British Columbia, digging his heels deep into the folk and blues tradition.
After a year of roaming Canada’s highway’s he returned to NL and took on the pubs and music halls of gridy downtown St. John’s becoming a permanent fixture in its music scene.
Blair Harvey is known in St. John’s as the hardest working musician around. With his whiskey burnin’ guitar style and a singing voice somewhere between Hank Williams and Mick Jagger, Blair is among the last of the hard core barroom stompers. His songs are from the street filled with welfare mothers, train wreck lovers, users and boozers and broken down dreamers.
Blair has released three albums, Burnin’ Down Religion(2004), Gutter Be Gutted(2006) and We Use to Rock n Roll(2010).He has won MUSICNL awards for best new folk artist, best new rock group and has been nominated for countless more. He has performed in theater performances for “The Man in Black: a tribute to Johnny Cash” ”Feast of Cohen: a tribute to Leonard Cohen and The Bob Dylan Tribute show, all performed at the Arts and Culture Centre in St. john’s.
He has toured extensively through Canada, the United States and Europe. He has played the Stan Rogers Festival in Nova Scotia, The North American Folk Alliance in Memphis, Tennessee and the Working Class Hero Festival in Dublin, Ireland. He has over eighty original songs and now lives and breathes music in Guelph Ontario.
