Remember The Nineties

Written By: Shun & August

Verse 1(August):
Rocking flattops with fades was the shit back then
watching Friday like debo riding the all blue schwinn
Geto boys had my mind playing tricks on me
out pass curfew messing around with the homies
At the age of 14 on the hunt living the moment
looking for the chicken heads that we ain’t plucked
Summertime red cool cups
parties at the crib cause momma gone to work
She hustled her way for me and my brother to have them J’s
going to school late can’t miss the release date
Got to be fresh yo from head to toe
surprise at Christmas time usc starter coats
Allen I. was a rookie out of George T
busta made you put your hands where his eyes can see
I know it all sounds like a thing of the past
but why we can’t make it last
Remember the nineties

Chorus(Shun):I’m not saying that we didn’t have to struggle(struggle)
and I’m not saying that we didn’t have to hustle(hustle)
I’m just saying a better time
a better place in my mind
Remember the nineties, yeah
Remember the nineties, yeah
Remember the nineties

Verse 2(Shun/August):
More racism, less terrorism back in the day
tecmo bowl hidden go get it was the games we play
Remember when R & B was R & B…

Like a brownstone, dru hill, envogue or a jodeci
Them eighties baby had it different
moon walking for your momma friends in the kitchen
Before the Xboxes and playstations
super Nintendo and sega genesis watching dennis the menace
Ice Cube and morris chestnut was boys in the hood
2pac got poetic justice, soul food was good
No telling who’s calling without a caller ID
if you needed to talk 911 beep me
OJ and Rodney king had all that drama
bobby brown, whitney Houston had something in common
I know it all sounds like a thing of the past
but why we can’t make it last
Remember the nineties

Chorus(Shun): I’m not saying that we didn’t have to struggle(struggle)and I’m not saying that we didn’t have to hustle(hustle)
I’m just saying a better time
a better place in my mind
Remember the nineties, yeah
Remember the nineties, yeah
Remember the nineties

Bridge(August):
Remember if you was bad like mike
people would ask Jackson, Jordan or Tyson
Or the days when twenty dollars could fill up your gas tank
I know y’all use to watch in living color, martin, fresh prince of bel-air
How about when hip hop hade a meaning

Chorus Out(Shun)

Open Up

Written By: Shun & August

Verse 1(Shun):
It took me some time to realize
we weren’t on the same page
I lived in denial I guess a part of me
thought you was going to change
But we both knew better than that
but somehow we went down that road
And now that we come this far
there’s a few things I need to know
Tell me why
why you won’t learn to trust
Tell me why
why you won’t open up your soul
Tell me why
why you won’t learn to love
afraid of letting go
So baby

Chorus(Shun):
When you let your guard down
I will let my walls down
You think that I’m lying
tell me what you hiding
What are you afraid of
show me what you made of
Just be open to me
and I’ll be open

Repeat(2x)

Verse 2(August):
Cyence
Give me the opportunity to open your heart
started off good at the end fell apart
why you want to leave what we got in the dark
My neo soul queen
had me hooked like a fen
now you taking a leave of absence
I’m not satisfied testing waters
another brother ain’t going to love you like I love you
You fit my forte
you a different world my Lisa Bonet
I don’t give a damn what your friends say
your my keepsake
We a package that’s a total like Pam & Keisha
I’m the one who needs ya
let’s follow procedure
for you to forever brighten up my picture
Never go back to what we was
nothing stronger than love
and it’s all because

(Shun):
You don’t have to search no more
I can be what you looking for
I can be what you searching for baby
I get the key to unlock that door
You can be open girl that’s what I’m hoping girl
Baby

Chorus(Shun): Repeat(2x)

Bridge(Shun):
Yeah
you can be open girl
that’s what I’m hoping girl
break it down
break it down

Chorus Out(Shun)
