Biography

Blame it on Cain is an original rock band that "blurs the lines between classic hard rock and current commercial radio metal."

They were formed in 2007, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and released their debut album Rhythm Schism in 2008. The band had some success as they played throughout the midwest in support of the record. Their song Yesterdays Happy was included on a nationally released compilation CD from Versailles Records that was distributed as a bonus disk included with the Guns N' Roses tribute album, Double Talkin' Jive. Their song Miami Beach was  the theme song for the animated web-based series Boston Brewed Bar.

The band went their separate ways in 2009, but reformed in 2015. After writing a batch of new songs, the band hit the studio with producer Eric LaBrosse of Cherry Pit Studios to record their latest record, Big Down Under. There has been a very positive reception locally, including some great reviews by the local press. The band is working on getting their music out to the masses and have been hard at work, writing and recording their next album.

Atuna

Written By: Sam Boettcher,Rich Brown, Rich Brown

Time goes on we’re still standing
As I sing this song I keep thinking
Thoughts of you are clear, no confusion
Want you always near

Will you believe in me?
I will believe in you
I feel the same as you do

Here’s our life pieced together
Here’s our dreams we’ll fly together
We were made to be with each other
And we’ll always be

Will you believe in me?
I will believe in you
I feel the same as you do

(instrumental break)

Will you believe in me?
I will believe in you
I feel the same as you do

Here’s my life
Here’s my dreams
Can you see
Yourself with me?

Yesterday's Happy

Written By: Greg Kiloren

From across the ocean life smiles at me
Memories of yesterday paint the map we see
Why so depressed she says, “don’t you feel your best?”
My eyes answer, this life’s a mess
Protect me, from all this anxiety

Easier to feel down then to take a chance
So simple to walk away then to ask a dance
Why not sit in a corner though I didn’t ask
My blanket covers me from depressions wrath
Protect me, from so much anxiety

Yesterdays Happy, today is a mess
Yesterdays Happy, today is a mess

So much to tell her that it burns inside
Fear of what she’ll say to me makes my voice hide
But what would happen when the moment arrives
Frozen in my place as she waves goodbye
Protect me, from all this anxiety

Yesterdays Happy, today is a mess
Yesterdays Happy, today is a mess

(instrumental break)

Yesterdays Happy, today is a mess
Yesterdays Happy, today is a mess
Yesterdays Happy, today is a mess
Yesterdays Happy, today is a mess

12 Gauge Handshake

Written By: Rich Brown & Rich Seegert

Broken bottles and back street alleys
Walking through this El Paso byway
Hairs bristle the tension stifling
Resurrection Tombstone trainwreck

Through these alleys what’s behind me?
Young punk, fearless instinct trigger
4 on 1 could be better
But life’s misfortune trained this sinner

What’s your name boy? Where’s your color?
You think you’ve got the stones to bother
Turn around and take your cover
Midnight deadline makes me brother

Static crackle razor white lie
Fingers tremble tunnel crosslight
Momentary hesitation
only leads to desolation

Writing down I can’t forget this
Lifeless situation breathless
Ride the highway of this lifeline
Chance encounter change the byline

Friendly smiles hide the crackwise
Bad intentions in those black eyes
Keep your wits and watch your back
A 12 guage handshake where’s your slack

Street lights flicker fading black
Watch the sunrise from my back
Whispered goodbye with just one regret
That final handshake click, boom, crack

(instrumental break)

Writing down I can’t forget this
Lifeless situation breathless
Ride the highway of this lifeline
Chance encounter change the byline

Friendly smiles hide the crackwise
Bad intentions in those black eyes
Keep your wits and watch your back
A 12 guage handshake where’s your slack

Miami Beach

Written By: Rich Brown

Little girl in Miami Beach
Playing in the sand and streets
Careless whims in her head
As she skips along

Flying kites and finding shells
Building castles by the swell
Seagulls and sand crabs
watch her skip along

17 and she moves on
Metal bands and skateboard songs
Friday night on the streets
Still she skips along

Backstreet big haired bad boys
Blend into her scene
Background noise as she moves on
Skipping to this song

As moonlight glistens dew drop leaves
Her sultry eyes casecade my dreams
In a room without a view
I was blessed sitting next to you

(instrumental break)

Now shes a woman and not some little girl
Sexy dress and playful eyes creep into my world
Shall I take a chance and show how foolish I can be
Gain outweighs the risk for her to skip along with me

As moonlight glistens dew drop leaves
Her sultry eyes cascade my dreams
In a room without a view
I was blessed sitting next to you

From Nashville to DC
How the angles smiled at me
Could it be this so sweet
In my dreams, we would meet

In Miami Beach

Wish I Knew

Written By: Sam Boettcher

That smile, your face
It’s priceless when you smile at me
Your warm embrace
Puts me on top of the world

My fascination lies in you
My attention consumed by you
Do you treasure theses moments like I do?
I wish I knew

I wish we had
Never a day apart
Forever and ever
I guess one night would be a start

My fascination lies in you
My attention consumed by you
Will you love me the way that I love you?
I wish I knew

(Instrumental Break)

My fascination lies in you
My attention consumed by you
Will you love me the way that I love you?
I wish I knew

My fascination lies in you
My attention consumed by you
I’m worried about a life that’s without you
I wish you knew
I wish you knew
I wish you knew

Devil His Due

Written By: K. Broma

This fateful trip is such a lady
As it goes the right can’t help fading
Do you think this cannot be a cover song?
Around the clock and then we say so long

We’ll paint it black and we’ll paint it blue
Can’t you see the devil has a hold of you
Keep me warm and I never knew
Can’t you see you gotta give the devil his due

Got to have such a fine reason
Oh it’s all wrong for the season
Give it a chance give me an answer
The darkness grows into this cancer

We’ll paint it black and we’ll paint it blue
Can’t you see the devil has a hold of you
Keep me warm and I never knew
Can’t you see you gotta give the devil his due

When the lights shine bright
Tell me what’s wrong from right
Just when it’s outta sight

Not more than I can do
Give me a thing or two
And who wants to be like you?

(instrumental break)

We’ll paint it black and we’ll paint it blue
Can’t you see the devil has a hold of you
Keep me warm and I never knew
Can’t you see you gotta give the devil his due

Close Our Eyes

Written By: Sam Boettcher & Rich Seegert

Where do you go when you close your eyes?
Drift between the stars and the sky
A journey towards some happier times
Where do you go when you close your eyes?

Where do you go when you close your eyes?
Dancing along the thin white line
Sorting through unfinished work left behind
Where do you go when you close your eyes?
When you close your eyes
When you close your eyes

Where do I go when I close my eyes?
Different places for different times
Always changing never standing still
Where do I go when I close my eyes?

Where do I go when I close my eyes?
Dancing along the thin white line
Sorting through unfinished work left behind
Where do I go when I close my eyes?

Towards the light...Keeper of the night
Lucid dreams...what does it mean?
Changing states.....reincarnate
Heaven or hell....no one can tell

(instrumental break)

Towards the light...Keeper of the night
Lucid dreams...what does it mean?
Changing states.....reincarnate
Heaven or hell....no one can tell

Where do we go when we close our eyes?
Searching for peace, love, and hope in our time
Finding each other we unify
Where do we go when we close our eyes?

Where do we go when we close our eyes?
Dancing along the thin white line
Sorting through unfinished work left behind
Where do we go when we close our eyes

Give Me Money

Written By: Rich Seegert

Makes the world go round
Keeps the third world down
There is treasure beyond belief
And it belongs to me

Tell me would you sell your soul
If I offered gold
I will plant the seed
And you will grow the greed

Yeah You

Richer everyday
That’s life in the USA
Got to lock them borders tight
Stay where you are you have no rights

Yeah you, starmaker, you faker

You starmaker, starbreaker
There’s nothing for free
I don’t want your soul
Just give me money

More than a war of words
Pick a fight we’ll sell you swords
I will plant the seed
And you will grow the greed

Yeah you, starmaker, you faker

You starmaker, starbreaker
There’s nothing for free
I don’t want your soul
Just give me money

You starmaker, starbreaker
There’s nothing for free
I don’t want your soul
Just give me money

Money, give me money
Money, give me money

Wheel of Time

Written By: Rich Seegert

Step by Step we’re walking
Inch by Inch we’re crawling
Prayer of passion on my lips

Shoes are worn
My hands are torn
Miles behind me dripped with blood

Step by step we’re walking
Inch by inch we’re crawling
Just to see the Wheel of Time

Like grains of sand
Running through our hands
Recreate the Wheel of Time

Energy throughout the sky
Entangles the world and I
In a complex correlation
Without lucid explanations
Is the land of Shambala

Step by step we’re walking
Inch by inch we’re crawling
Just to see the Wheel of Time

Like grains of sand
Runnind through our hands
Recreate the Wheel of Time

Look deep into the night
Ornament of stainless light
Only through meditation
Without lucid explanations
Is the land of Shambala

Step by step
Inch by inch
Hands are worn
Shoes are torn
Light by light
Night by night
You and I
Wheel of Time

Let it Go

Written By: Sam Boettcher

Come back from your quandaries
Take the blindfold from your eyes
See the world without your waiting sign

Another day has come
And now it's time to make a change
No one's gonna wait either way

Let It go. Can't you see. It's not to be.
Let It go. Can't you see. It's not to be.
Let It go. Can't you see. It's not to be.
Let It go. Can't you see. It's not to be.

The cards already fallin
And the coins' already tossed
Your attitude's your own albatross

History has your path blocked
And it has a devil's grin
There's not a person here who's never sinned

Let It go. Can't you see. It's not to be.
Let It go. Can't you see. It's not to be.
Let It go. Can't you see. It's not to be.
Let It go. Can't you see. It's not to be.

Solo

You can sit and hide
It don't matter anyway

You'd be surprised
At the gift misfortune makes

The sun will always rise
If you're strong enough to stay

Learn to say goodbye
To the things that cause dismay

Now open up those eyes
And greet your future with a smile
The chasm disappears within awhile

Now it's time I leave you
But before I'm 5 miles gone
Remember what I told you in this song

For Them

Written By: Sam Boettcher

Everyday the body grows older
Everyday the soul keeps wanting more
Every time I see your faces
The deepest parts of me are always smiling

My mistakes aren’t always clear to me
I hope you understand I’m always trying
Knowing what is best for you,
The answers never seem so cut and dry

It's for them
I hope that they can see
I've tried so hard
to give the best of me

It's for them
I hope that they can see
Someone who loves them
unconditionally

The road ahead is so unclear
But I will always try to be your light
Watching how far you’ve come
growing up so fast a welcome sight

It's for them
I hope that they can see
I've tried so hard
to give the best of me

It's for them
I hope that they can see
Someone who loves them
unconditionally

Hotel

Written By: Sam Boettcher

Won’t you come and find me?
You know we like to play
Come on out and find me
You’ll enjoy your stay

Come on down to hotel
The party’s all night long
Come on down to hotel
The drinks are always strong
Come on down to hotel
The party’s all night long
Come on down to hotel
Where nothing can go wrong

You know where to find me
No need to bring a friend
You know where find me
You’ll come in the end

It’s your opportunity, no regrets philosophy
It’s your opportunity, we’ll rewrite drunk history

Come on down to hotel
The party’s all night long
Come on down to hotel
The drinks are always strong
Come on down to hotel
The party’s all night long
Come on down to hotel
Where nothing can go wrong

Just Say No

Written By: Sam Boettcher

Just another night home all alone
A few stiff drinks lighten the load
staying out of trouble is the goal tonight
you swear

The clock turns over with a heavy yawn
Your eyes close shut, you’re dozing off
Phone vibrations means one thing
You up? You're up!

Just say no, you'll regret it
Just say no, you'll forget it
Just say no, you'll regret it
Just. Say. No. (1st) Too Late. (2nd)

Just like that and she's already there
A train wrecked lot lizard with long blonde hair
They call her Sore and Salty, it’s her cross to bare
To bare!

She climbs on top just a grinding away
Whispers in your ear with her chest in your face
Your past the point of no return do you even have a say?
No Way!

Just say no, you'll regret it
Just say no, you'll forget it
Just say no, you'll regret it
Just. Say. No. (1st) Too Late. (2nd)

No More

Written By: Rich Seegert

I hear you knocking at my window
Then you come around to my back door
I thought I told you don’t wanna see you
Don’t you come around here no more

Don’t come around
Don’t come around
Here no more
Here no more

Don’t come around
Don’t come around
Here no more
Here no more

And I know you can hear me
You don’t understand what’s in store
I thought I told you dont wanna see you
Don’t you come around here no more

Don’t come around
Don’t come around
Here no more
Here no more

Don’t come around
Don’t come around
Here no more
Here no more

First I double lock my front doors
Next I shut off all the lights
I keep telling you I don’t wanna see you
So don’t keep coming ‘round

The Turn

Written By: Sam Boettcher

She waits alone tonight
He waits for something inside
She stands on fragile ground
While he plays to his adoring crowd

She knows he’s alive without her
He knows he’s confused about her
She needs an answer tonight
He can’t see, still blinded by the light

There’s no time for compromise
They need to make the turn
Towards each other or fall away
Another life lesson learned

He wants love from everyone
She needs love from only one
He believes that their love isn’t real
She can’t prove that she’s all that he needs

There’s no time for compromise
They need to make the turn
Towards each other or fall away
Another life lesson learned

Lost is found,she’ll love again
Aimless lust, will lead him to sin
She’ll look back on this very night
He’ll forget the true love of his life

SOLO

There’s no time for compromise
They need to make the turn
Towards each other or fall away
Another life lesson learned

There’s no time for compromise
They need to make the turn
Towards each other or fall away
Another life lesson learned

You and I

Written By: Sam Boettcher

Was it getting cold?
where you're running from
Is it getting warmer
running from the sun

You don't have to worry
cuz I'm the only one
Who's never gonna hurt you
our lives have just begun

You and I, dreams are all the same
You and I, making our own waves
You and I, happiness is real
You and I, our destiny's to steal

Lay down your defenses
I promise you it’s safe
To get everything you need
it’s a chance you have to take

And everything you need is all right here

You and I, dreams are all the same
You and I, making our own waves
You and I, happiness is real
You and I, our destiny's to steal

Writing's on the Wall

Written By: Sam Boettcher

What’s that going on inside your head
The words coming from your mouth are just plain sad
Soon will come a time that you will see what’s coming round
On second thought we’ll have to wait and see

All I’ve got to say is
All I’ve got to say is
All I’ve got to say is
The writing’s on the wall

All I’ve got to say is
All I’ve got to say is
All I’ve got to say is
The writing’s on the wall

Who is going to come and rescue you
From your world that we can all see through
“No one” is the answer that you fail to comprehend
I wish there was a way to still be friends

All I’ve got to say is
All I’ve got to say is
All I’ve got to say is
The writing’s on the wall

All I’ve got to say is
All I’ve got to say is
All I’ve got to say is
The writing’s on the wall

And I don’t really care to see another self made incident
And I don’t really care to see my time wasted waiting for...
