Bio

Born and raised on the Southwest side of Houston, Texas, Blaze began displaying his rap skills for the first time at the age of 6. By the end of elementary school, Blaze had found hip hop and he knew it would be a part of his life forever. In middle school, he truly began to study the craft and made himself a fixture of the cafeteria table top scene. High school found Blaze appearing on 97.9 “The Roll Call”, a freestyle segment on Houston’s leading Hip Hop radio station. At this point, Blaze had solidified himself as a fixture in freestyle competitions across Houston and Texas and was becoming a respected face in Houston underground rap. In 2009, Blaze won the Radio One’s “Bust it like Busta” contest, emerging amongst thousands of entrants across the country as the sole winner.

Since it all began on the Southwest side, Blaze and Cy Fyre (producer for Trae, Slim Thug, Killa Kyleon, J-Dawg, Chamillionaire, Rick Ross, Lupe Fiasco, Big Boi, Wale, Wiz Khalifa, B.O.B, Jadakiss, Kendrick Lamar, Bun B, Big KRIT, The Game, Tyga), have been through it all together. With chemistry that can only be achieved after over a decade of collaboration, and a mission to make the ears of the world turn to Houston, the two plan to release this fall, their first full length project together, Insomniac Music.

The first single off of Insomniac, “Weed”, featuring Devin The Dude and Jet Life recording artist, Smoke DZA, took the Internet by storm this past 4/20, becoming a new holiday anthem. The next single released off the album, Blow in Da Wind, featuring Slim Thug and LE$ of Boss Hogg Outlawz, was also hailed a success, as it made its way onto the most prominent hip hop blogs. Singles to come off the tape, include tracks with Lil Keke, Killa Kyleon, Doughbeezy, and more.

With the backing of the Fyre Factory Band (Frank Liu – Guitar, Anthony Russ – Keys, Marquis Johnson – Drums), Blaze has put together a one-of-a-kind show experience that blends the excitement and energy of hip hop with the power and force of live instruments.
