"CD REVIEW: Blee - Black Lion Chronicles Chapter 2: Respect Your Legacy"

" Blee might not have had enough breaks yet, but this CD could be the one. Scaling over 15 tracks, this album brings the drawing pallet Blee works with to the full table. " - Indie Music Digest

"Blee: The Black Lion Chronicles Chapter 3:Caribbean Swag"

"The album closes out with what amounts to be one of the best songs, "The Black Review". The production is built on piano loops and other stringed instruments and features audio clips of a speech by Malcolm X. " - Rap Reviews

"Review: B.L.E.E. - Who's Dat Boy 2.0"

B.L.E.E. - Who's Dat Boy 2.0
2008, Cross Seas Entertainment

The Black Lion Of Eternal Excellence, AKA B.L.E.E. is a Montserrat born London resident who lost his home to a 1995 volcanic eruption. This even shaped his life in many ways, driving him to music for comfort, but also teaching him something about the important things in life. Love, people and life itself hold highest currency for B.L.E.E., and it comes across in his music and rhymes. Who's Dat Boy 2.0 is the lamented first single from an album that will never be. Changes in musical direction prompted B.L.E.E. to drop the album of the same name and start working on The Black Lion L.P., due in early 2009. For now, we have this little slice of B.L.E.E.'s musicality to sample.

Who's Dat Boy 2.0 opens with Who's Dat Boy, a fresh and snappy rap tune that shows its Caribbean roots. B.L.E.E. has a lot to say and he does so literately. He displays just enough of the American aggressiveness to compete in that market while maintaining some of the quiet dignity one associates with England. B.L.E.E. is able to create a dynamic sound without sounding overly produced and without containing the infectious spirit of his music. The song Who's Dat Boy 2.0 is a remix and partial re-imagining of the same song. This version sounds more like American rap, but maintains the literate and intelligent lyric style displayed on the opening track. Remix is pure dancehall material -- highly entertaining. Boss Swag falls off a bit, not having the same energy nor sparking the same interest as the rest of the EP.

B.L.E.E. brings the sort of energy and fresh feeling that helped early rap gain such mainstream popularity. B.L.E.E. could be big with the right breaks. Who's Dat Boy 2.0 for the most part will make you wish he released his first album after all. Then again, there's always The Black Lion LP to look forward to.

Bio

‘Conscious Hip Hop with a Caribbean Cool’

With songs featured in hit American TV series Graceland, Lincoln Heights and True Blood Blee is fast becoming an independent artist that is making major moves in this business.

Growing up on the paradise Caribbean island of Montserrat, Blee started off his life instilled with values and structure. Tragedy struck his idyllic surroundings In July 1995 when the now infamous and tragic volcano erupted on the island destroying more than half the region including his childhood home. Uprooted, he moved to Canada to start a new life, he later made a move to the UK where he finally settled in London.

A multi talented producer, writer and performer, Blee is the answer to today’s lost generation of those both young and old on a quest to find themselves amongst the chaos of a traditionalist uninspired society. They say it takes just one person to make a change, shake things up and set the pace and we say that Blee has come along at just the right time!

His song ‘Street Jam’ has been one of his most successful releases to date having been featured in hit American TV series Graceland and Lincoln Heights. Blee has collaborated with many producers over the years including Sony South Africa’s hit producer ClassyMenace. They have done several collaborations together which continue to enjoy great success including their Dance hit ‘Serenade’ which was featured in the vampire series True Blood.

In addition to his skills as a producer and writer, Blee has set up his own independent record label Respect Your Legacy Records, which specialising in artists from the Caribbean, alongside Cross Seas Entertainment which acts as a publishing company. With intentions to both cultivate new artists and create a new generation of trendsetters, he also feels it is important to hold on to what’s yours in order to stay true and fill that ever growing gap in the market.
