"Weekend Watch"

Tonight
Blind Joe's first efforts to snag gigs down south, back when he was going to college in Arkansas, were hindered by the cold truth that it's hard for a blind man to get his cane in the door. It's gotten a lot easier. The one-man honky-tonk act has been downright ubiquitous in Fargo since he started playing here in 2006, and his August win in the state finals of a national country-music contest gave him a touch of formal credentials. He's taking off on his first national tour at the end of the month, a 17-date southwestern swing starting in Tulsa, Okla. A week later, Joe will compete in the regional finals of the Colgate Country Showdown at Royal River Casino in South Dakota. Send him off in rowdy style tonight at 10 at The Broken Axe, where he holds court most Thursdays. Cover is $3. Ages 21 and up.

"Alcoholiday"

Blind Joe
-- Dave Roepke
Valley R&R - 12/07/2006 Tonight When Blind Joe (pictured at left) is perched on the stage above the bar at The Broken Axe, he likes to chide quiet crowds with a quip like, “I can’t see you, so I’ve got to hear you!” Which is true: The guy is blind. But if you go see the singer/guitarist at The Axe, where he hosts a local showcase each Thursday night, it’s not his lack of sight that will strike you. It’s the confident huskiness of his Bob Seger-like vocals and spirited stage persona that make the biggest impression -- that and his interest in intoxication. It’s not without cause that the gig at The Axe is called “Alcoholiday.” Of the five originals on “People Like Me,” a self-released CD, booze gets a mention in the first lines of every song but one. Raise a mug tonight starting at 10. There’s no cover for this 21 and older show. - The Fargo Forum

"New Album press release"

PRESS RELEASE: Fargo-Moorhead's own BLIND JOE prepares to release new album in 2008.

F-M area Country/Soul artist, Blind Joe has come far in the past year since he first started performing in our local area. Taking the stage alongside The Kentucky Headhunters, Craig Morgan, Jackyl, Bret Michaels of Poison, John Hiatt, Facecage, John Lee Hooker Jr. and Shannon Curfman as well as with numerous local and regional acts. Such as 32 Below who invited Blind Joe to open up their 2008 New Years tour that saw Joe perform to over 5,000 people in four days.
The 25 Year old Blind, West Fargo/Moorhead native took the stage in Wadina, MN this past August against nearly a dozen competitors from all over the state. Dressed in his traditional t-shirt and jeans Blind Joe performed his original track 'Back at the Bar,' and the George Strait classic 'The Fireman,' emerging as the 2007 Colgate Country Showdown State Champion, winning $1,000 and moving to the regional competition in Flandreau, South Dakota where he came in second, losing by a mere 2 points.
Recording 2 albums in just over a year ('People Like Me,' and 'Soul Singin Son of a Bitch', which have sold almost 4,000 copies) Blind Joe is now preparing for the release of his third, and arguably best collection of self-penned tracks to date. 'Warm Whiskey, Cold Beer,' features new songs such as 'Gettin Over You,' 'Juke Joint Jumpin,' ‘Bringin That Good Shit Back’, and stand out track 'These Songs I Play.' Showing growth both lyrically and in his unique style of flat top guitar playing, 'Warm Whiskey, Cold Beer,' shows Blind Joe in a whole new light.
With a bright and busy future in the months and years ahead, Blind Joe would like to extend a THANK YOU to all who have supported him and his dreams over the past year and also to extend an invitation to those who have yet to experience Blind Joe live, on disc or in person to check him out at www.blindjoe.com or www.myspace.com/blindjoe.

"Best Bets"

Wed. Sept 6th
Blind Joe w/Los Texacans

A night of good, old fashion rowdy redneck music is being prepared for the Nestor this coming Tuesday and Blind Joe takes the stage alongside the Tejano sounds of Los Texacans. Drinking songs from one of the most talented musicians from our area has set him apart from most over the past few weeks. Sharing the stage with Shannon Curfman and John Lee Hooker Jr., as well as continually selling out of his debut CD “People Like Me” so quickly that the disc is currently on back order. Not bad for a 24-year-old blind kid from Moorhead. If you want to experience Blind Joe in his glory, Wed., Sept 6th the Nestor will be hosting a night that will definitely set any and all naysayers straight.
Show starts at 10 p.m. and there is a cover.

Blind Joe: North Dakota's Outlaw Country Son

The rowdy non-stop Country Soul that is Blind Joe is as infectious as a night of Jack Daniels and a few Hank Williams songs on the jukebox. Coming from nowhere to being the most successful musician in the Fargo-Moorhead area in a little over 2 years, Blind Joe has shared the stage with numerous top local and regional acts over the past few years, as well as national recording artists such as David Allan Coe, Craig Morgan, Bret Michaels of Poison, Jackyl, The Kentucky Headhunters, Michale Graves of the Misfits, Joe Buck of Hank III's band, John Lee Hooker Jr., John Hiatt and many, many more. Recording an album a year for the past three years, 'People Like Me,' and 'Soul Singin’ Son of a Bitch,' have already sold well over 4,000 copies, while the new album 'Warm Whiskey, Cold Beer,' is set to drop August 15th 2008 and promises to be the best Blind Joe album to date. Touring non-stop all over the region, Blind has played to thousands in the past two and a half years, from bars to theatres to arenas, sold massive amounts of Blind Joe merch and become a staple in the music community. Gearing up for non-stop shows throughout the fall and winter months in North Dakota and a Southern tour this spring, Blind Joe is tapping his way quickly into the hearts and minds of people all over the United States.
