"Album Review"

"The album’s blend of sonic gauze, earnest keening, electronic blooping, analog clatter, ethnic flavor, and nostalgic ’60s pop emits a rainbow glow that’s as comforting as it is comfortable." - Spin Magazine

"Ptichfork Media Review"

"Blind Man's Colour show an enthusiasm, like other recent pop collagists Telepathe and Teengirl Fantasy, to incorporate sounds from outside the general sphere of experimental indie, utilizing heavy hip-hop bass on standout "Jimmy Dove" and building a distorted synth-pop lullaby with "Sleeping Habits"." - PitchforkMedia.com

"Prefix Mag review"

"Behind all the artifice, behind the production and underwater effects, is some simple but solid songwriting. The catchy, cheerful melodies combine with the psychedelic production to create a trippy beach-music feel appropriate for their St. Petersburg roots. Like Brian Wilson, BMC’s Kyle Wyss and Orhan Chettri have a knack for coupling well-crafted traditional melodies with other-worldly noises. The album’s quality level is pretty consistent throughout, but the high points are “Anxious Place” and “Jimmy Dove.” (Kanye West favorably blogged about the latter when BMC was label shopping.) The able, ten-minute-long closer, “Shells,” eventually devolves into seashell and ocean noises and the gentle strumming of an acoustic guitar." - PrefixMag.com

"The Harvard Crimson"

"If you read Kanye West’s blog for any reason beyond pure entertainment or comedy, then you may have heard of Blind Man’s Colour. If you wait around for a couple more years, the band will be a household name amongst hipsters and beachgoers alike.

The band—hailing from St. Petersburg, Florida and led by Kyle Wyss and Orhan Chettri—released their debut LP this summer after six months of steady hype brought on by Kanye and others blogging about their music. “Season Dreaming” is the product of several years worth of material, and its title and the season of its release could not be more appropriate for a group whose lifeblood is sand and salty sea.

Though scores of blogs—and now magazines—like to point toward the band’s influences, which include the likes of Animal Collective and spin-off Panda Bear, Wyss and Chettri have most certainly forged a new path, incorporating elements of electronic, noise rock, experimental, and, at times, even hip-hop beats—all the while paying the utmost respect to the vibe of the Gulf Coast shoreline they grew up on. They are destined to be the fathers of an entirely new sub genre: Beach-Ethereal Electronic Rock.

Bio

Blind Man’s Colour is the psychedelic brainchild of 19 year olds Kyle Wyss and Orhan Chettri, hailing from St. Petersburg, FL.

Spending their early teen years playing in various psychedelia-influenced and electronic projects, (”Pink Floyd/Led Zeppelin stuff,” they attest), their sound evolved into a very diverse range of organice folk, psych-drone, desert-rock and electronic ambiance. With the help of friend Sheridan Willard, the three spent senior year of high school recording experimental pop tracks in each other’s bedrooms.

Blending the modernity of Animal Collective, the experimentalism of Krautrock pioneers like Can and Faust, and the psychedelic leanings of early Pink Floyd, their debut album Season Dreaming recorded between 2007-2008 is a hodge-podge of ambient pop drawing from the band’s ‘oceanic experiences’ – sounding something like a day at the beach with nothing but a peyote towel and a busted boom box.

Awash in glistening keyboards, swirling acoustic guitar, stealthily recorded found sounds and harmonic, gleefully distorted vocals, Season Dreaming does a breathtaking job at mixing the natural warmth of an analog 4-track with the crisper, more contemporary vibes of your favorite lap top bands.

In 2009, through participation in an Animal Collective covers compilation titled Collected Animals, Blind Man’s Colour suddenly found themselves the subject of tastemakers attention. Indie Rock Cafe named them a 2009 Band to Watch, I Guess I’m Floating ventured, “A good chance of becoming my favorite find of 2009 less than one month in,” Grizzly Bear’s Ed Droste twittered about his discovery and Kanye West got in on the action, with a blog post titled: “Some dope shit for my apartment” and urged someone to sign the band. And now, we are happy to report, Season Dreaming is being released August 18th.
