BEST OF ATLANTA issue: Best Local Dance Band (Readers Choice)
Blind Slim
With their baseball caps, oxford shirts and Old South trappings (the lead singer's name is Beau Hall), this local trio seems an unlikely group to have embraced old-style electric blues, but such is the state of that venerable genre. Still, Blind Slim are no doubt earnest and have adopted the 12-bar boogie as their calling card, cleaving to it as if part of a rite as sacred as beer, pretzels and darts. Long live down-home American music. - editors

Bio
formed in 1997 as a blues-purist band, featuring music from the 40s through the 70's... BB, Stevie, Muddy, Elmore.
In late 2000 the band found the funk in Beau Hall's songwriting... with each new song, the band stepped further and further from Blues. Eventually with the addition of Bennie and Andy on the rhythm section, the band found it's true voice: THE FUNK. Sure, Funk has no place between angry rap-metal and whiny emo-core, but the fans scream a different story. THIS BAND IS THE SHIT.
