"Blithe Field "Warm Blood""

- GROUND CONTROL TO MAJOR TOM

"Blithe Field - In The Moonlight"

In the moonlight I’m nearly as blind as it all. “In The Moonlight” is the second of ten gems on Blithe Field’s upcoming Warm Blood. The ten finger laced songs are available for pre-order via Messy Life Records.

I hesitated, I felt my eyes, I blushed, I stood over the blind inanimate things, why am I lucky? These things, they make up everything, impressions, and sallow yellow comfort or hollow white discomfort, they’re dustpans just like I am, only blinder. I didn’t say a thing, I didn’t have to, it was completely dark, that’s why I didn’t have to. But in the moonlight - well, what happens then? Well, then I’m nearly as blind as everything. I dashed the water from my eyes. - VERB/RE/VERB

"Blithe Field – “Mom Likes the 80's”"

Sampled-whisps make up most of Blithe Field‘s presence. Each splice fades around its previous encounter, while short-lived compositional breakdowns fill each track’s layout to the brim. Two Hearted gave itself away through these specific arrangements and the release went a long way for Spencer Radcliffe’s project.

Warm Blood falls under a similar collection of brief songs, whose hymns feature the spoken words of children re-directed as aural narratives behind warped-loops. “Mom Likes the 80's” follows Blithe Field‘s compositional forms and finds a way to stand out even beyond that. Perhaps it’s the indecisive percussionary elements or the track’s contrasting lead synth that makes the song as worth noting upon its first listen. Similarly, the entire album leaves a distinct lasting impression— a recurring imprint that doesn’t stray too far from Spencer’s previous releases.

"Stream: Blithe Field – Warm Blood."

There were days turning into weeks where I would listen to nothing but Blithe Field‘s Beautiful Wave ’74 that I randomly stumbled upon on Bandcamp back in 2010, a beautiful and fragile album with some of the warmest and most honest bedroom pop I had heard in a while. Today, our good friends over at PORTALS just premiered the brand new Blithe Field album, Warm Blood, and we couldn’t be more excited for you all to have a peak at it too. Get hazy. - NO FEAR OF POP

"The Daily Choice: Blithe Field - In The Moonlight"

Though I can’t condone Blithe Field’s decision to populate their new video for the decidedly melancholy and gorgeous track “In The Moonlight” with a clown (a clown holding a smiley face balloon), the track is tenuous and ethereal and sort of floats on the sea of your thoughts. For a moment you might think Blithe Field has pieced together a bit of traditional song-writing, but then come the quick cuts and the looping vocals and you think, “Ah, Blithe Field, it’s good to have you back.”

The new Blithe Field album Warm Blood comes out on French label Poulpe Mort April 12th. - THE SOUND ON THE SOUND

"Blithe Field/ Warm Blood"

- Puck Magazine

"Blithe Field- In The Moonlight (PREMIERE)"

- HARTZINE

"Listen to Blithe Field's New Album Now"

If you're not familiar with 19-year-old, Ohio-based producer Blithe Field, we suggest you check out the two tracks of his we've posted for download in the past (here and here), as they may give you a bit of background on the auspicious musicmaker and his brand of tender electronic productions. Once you're all caught up, we suggest you dive right into his latest LP, Two Hearted (pictured above), which is out now on Waaga Records. You can listen to Blithe Field's 13-song album below, and grab yourself a copy on CD or cassette, here.

"Blithe Field: "Crushing""

From the foothills of the Appalachians comes Blithe Field, the hauntological solo project of Athens, OH-based Spencer Radcliffe. Blithe Field arrives at the right time too, as Boards of Canada have presumably been assimilated by the borg, and the formerly Fahey-summoning Bibio has discovered the cosmic ball of funk on Bootsy Collins’ ranch, and just wants to dance. We need an artist like this now more than ever. Two Hearted, Radcliffe’s forthcoming full-length from Lefse sister label Waaga, is an impressive work, proving that he might be ready to receive said torch. Two Hearted fully absorbs the tranquil landscape of south-east Ohio’s gently rolling hills and distinct seasons and synthesizes it into a 33-minute exploration of fragmented, folk-infused ambience. On album opener “Crushing,” Books-style field recordings and fluttering, reversed samples weave between tape hiss-laden acoustic guitar and ride-heavy IDM drum patterns. The result is a vivid, halcyon portrait of kaleidoscopic wonder that relies as much on galactic synth sounds as rustic, breezy folk. An adventurous yet accessible listen throughout, Two Hearted is one to watch. --Kenny Bloggins, The Decibel Tolls - ALTERED ZONES

Bio

Euphoric organization of field recordings, clean cut samples, acoustic guitar, and a slew of beautifully deconstructed sounds being pieced back together kaleidoscopically. The often beat and guitar driven sounds make a listener wonder if they are in a nightclub, a dusty barn, or on a couch having a weird dream about Seaworld.
