Feeling a bit camera shy

LA somehow continues to immobilize in fast moving game of trends. The art that he drops is instant vintage and it competes only with what songs that He makes.

National recording artist/actor Al Smith (also known as LA) is inarguably one the most exciting artists to hit the scene. His genre is defined only by origin. He represents and speaks to hip hop and any other heart that listens. This multi talented St. Louis Native not only raps but directs films, is the lead singer in one of St. Louis's most infamous Prog Rock bands , and produces music for many local artists. This is not you typical rap shit. His global appeal and wide acceptance on the streets is substantially due to his ability to keep it real. His refined street smart lyrics come natural as he's in his late twenties. He writes rap lyrics that have to do with issues, feelings, ideas and themes as opposed to social status or material things. Al Smith creatively constructs what he calls "the audio drama we play out on lifes stage". And he raps not only about what he sees but gives his own ghetto commentary on everyday life. "My Music is my "TIME CAPSULE" Most choose to put him on their I-POD/MP3PLAYER or a CD. But if you feel the need to put him in a box you'd better get a big one because he covers all bases. For years Al Smith has been bubbling at the top of a melting pot of aspiring artists in St. Louis, MO. Formerly known as L.A., he started at trhe age of 15 with a group called Trump Tight. They performed at showcases and talent shows, won many contests . One in particular led to a production deal that he inked with KLASS ACT PRODUCTONS one of ST. LOUIS's first Hip Hop labels. This is where he was groomed to always stay klassy and keep it real. It lasted a few years but with age came separation and the camp dismembered. L.A. then went back to college and only did music as a hobby. " "While I was in Film School I was enrolled in marketing classes and interning at Blu Concept (a street team/promotions company) so my focus was on being behind the scenes as opposed to being in the booth." Not only did he learn how the majors played, but he also learned about the independent game first hand while orbiting the camps of NB, Black Persian, Flocaine, and MO Dirty (now Fyreboy Records). His first independent project was the HI DAZE EP. "It did a modest 4,000 copies but was considered a success because it finally came out" In 2005 I joined Diff Flow Records and released an EP called the 97 DELMAR. Even though I was on a few college tours, that CD is what sparked my buzz again at home. I had a few articles written on me, started getting booked to speak at schools, and finnaly got to negotiate with a few labels. That whole experience made me wanna just go independent, it was like interviewing for a bullshit job. " During that time L.A. and his Prog Rock band, Hipsterphonic/PFIC, began playing out of town more. They toured the Midwest playing music festivals and night clubs. On his latest effort, "The City Limitz", "LA" somehow continues to immobilize in fast moving game of trends. The music that he drops is instant vintage and it competes only with the other songs that He makes. He writes it . He performs it. He produces it. He directs it. Bottom line: He creates.
