"Full Review of Blood Type's MIAliens!"

South Miam rap duo Bloodtype consisting of rappers Ryan Taylor “Chief” and Stephan Stevenson “Stepson” decided to take matters in their own hands one day and start their very own Production Company – Lionsface Entertinment. They also vowed to deliver some amazing music possessing both new and old school vibes. Would they make good on their promise - to deliver a truly groundbreaking classic rap/hip hop album in 2009?

The CD kicks off with a soothing “Intro” piece that is one of three mental checkpoints along this musical journey, each designed to keep the listener on track when it comes to the overall message. Track 2 - “The Arrival” – starts things off with rappers Chief and Stepson going back and forth kicking things off right. The CD makes a good first impression, and let’s you know right from the start what the motivation is: to raise the bar within the context of the genera, expressing disappointment with the status quo of both the music industry and life itself. Track 3 “Life is but a Dream” delivers honey coated chorus sung to us by BrownSugar, with rap served up hot by Chief, with an amazing 3rd verse split and a grand slam chorus. Track 4 “Successful” has a nice melodic groove, with yet another amazing chorus, complete with well placed vocal effects, and harmonies that sit well within the pocket. You can’t help but notice a lot of impressive musical soundscapes, and exotic sonic layering along the way. This mixing is brilliant, and full of musical variety with clave, xylophone, strings, horn sections, clarinet, guitar, and jazz piano. The beats are rock solid providing solid low end support, and amazing hi end touches. The CD has many musical flavors, from hip hop, rap, jazz, blues, R&B, and even rock. You will find everything from clever rhymes, addictive melodies, lyrics that are thought provoking, and rap flows that are masterful. The thing I like the most about the rap performances themselves is they never once try to hard, or come across as being over the top. There are some funny, up beat tracks like “Hate it or love it” “SNS” and “Ronnie Romance” that give off old school harmonies, and hooky horn sections reminiscent of classic Motown. Others are extremely melodic like "Successful" and "Life is but a Dream" But something groundbreaking happens after Track 10” ”No Turning Back” - a string of the best material on the CD that hits you like a 1-2 punch, one track after the next. As the CD unfolds it methodically becomes more and more serious, with darker themes, more apocalyptic rap, and deeper subject matter. From my favorite track “Live from the 3” to “Relax Yourself”, to ”That’s how the game go” clearly the most powerful material is after track 10. Listeners should brace themselves for this shift because it packs a powerful punch. As we approach the finish line I can’t help but wonder what lies at the end. When I finally arrive there “System Failure” I’m not going to mention what happens, but let’s just say the message of the entire CD is crystal clear.

Song for song, pound for pound MIAliens is an impressive musical production. Like a heavy weight fighter this CD goes the full 12 rounds, and never once lets its guard down. It has everything from raw intensify, clever lyrics, to songs that are well crafted and hold your attention span perfectly. As a whole this CD possesses allot of variety, and versatility. It delivers the typical in your face urban swagger you would expect from a rap CD, and cannot be faked no matter how hard you try. The strong suit of MIAliens is it's strong production value, and the arsenal of producers it brings to the table including Dr, Dre, Eminem, Tribe Called Quest, and RZA. With over 70+ minutes of music it's fully loaded, and contains everything from deeply honest subject matter, hooky compositions, lyrics that are thought provoking, clever rhymes and rhythms, but more importantly a message that is deeply honest and personal. Its strength - its impressive musical liquidity and barrage of sound effects that mix up the catalogue well. The female ear candy is delicious; the rap flow from rappers Chief, Stepson, King Kush is first rate. MIAliens clearly delivers everything you would expect from a top notch mix tape, with each song possessing its own distinct personality, and individuality. It's TKO!

All in all MIAliens is one of the most powerful rap productions I’ve heard in 2009. From religion, to relationships, to upbeat themes, to content that will shake you to your core, and leave you coming back for more - Bloodtype makes good on a promise and delivers the goods! My favorite line on the whole CD is on Track 16 “That’s how the game go - “I can’t change the world, but I can play my part, play it smart with this art, I kept it real from the start.” This line personifies what the CD is about. If you want a CD that keeps it real from the start, or If your longing for a musical experience where anything is possible you should devote 75 minutes of your time to Bloodtype’s MIAliens. I guarantee you'll be coming back for more! - Indie Music Digest

"Blood Type are "MIAliens" on Debut Mixtape"

A full 13 years after Outkast released their seminal "ATLiens" album, up-and-coming South Miam rap duo Blood Type are determined to follow in their footsteps with the release of their debut album "MIAliens". Comprised of rappers Chief and Stepson, Blood Type have used their debut effort to showcase their versatility, flowing of wide range of classic and new school beats. Are these guys the next Outakst? No, but no one's the next Outkast. Instead their something better, the next Blood Type. I value originality and authenticity above all else, and as long as these guys stay true to themselves I can see big things coming in their future. - www.refinedhype.com

Bio

Sick of working nine to five jobs Ryan Taylor and Stephan Stevenson knew there had to be a better way. Sick of listening to the same old songs on the radio, the two decided to make a difference. The two decided to follow their dreams and form the rap duo Blood Type. They make use of old school vibes while still keeping things fresh. The two vowed to make an undeniable hip hop classic album.

Representing South Miami, the two founded Lionsface Entertainment and have made brand recognition a priority. The black and gold colors make the duo easily recognizable. The music is very content and concept driven, an approach not often followed by many rap acts in the Miami area. The songs and approach Blood Type uses to create music is very standout. Thus spawning the name of the duo's first mixtape, MIAliens.

The two have many names, Stepson, Chief, and Blood Type but what remains is the commitment to excellence and strict code of honor. The monkey cannot look the lion in the face. They don't ask for your approval, but they demand your respect.
