"Bloody Bands"

Ok, I’m beginning to like music again. After a heavy week of far too many bands and DJ sets I’m feeling like I’m back in the game. There are a few new things that are slowly beginning to excite me and I guess, seeing as this is a music blog, I better share them with y’all?

Today we’re going to travel all the way to Norway. Not literally, that would be stupid, I just mean that these lot are from Norway, I was trying to be clever. Ladies, Gents and Um & Ars I introduce you to Bloody Beach.

I have to firstly hold my hands up, I had never heard of these lot until a tip-off from Shoreditch Radio’s Vic Hollup (THANK YOU), but hey, I have now and they’re Bloody (see what I did there) brilliant!

The band are hitting the UK at the beginning of June and are about to release a 7? via Telle Records who were responsible for early releases from the likes of Annie and Royksopp, pretty good company!

They describe their music as ‘some kind of ethnic rock’ and reckon that these 2 tracks are perfect for ‘making beautiful babies, drinking vodka or simply speeding with your moped’. I shall have to buy a moped and try and do all 3 at once.

Check out the tunes and the (frankly bizarre) video and let me know what you think!!

See what I mean? That’s just weird. I think they may have some serious issues with camels, I know I do now…. - My band is better than your band

Bio

The music of Bloody Beach is a conglomerate of musical styles from around the world, but always with a firm foothold in energetic indie rock. The band has in a short amount of time established a solid fan base in its homeland Norway, and has started to tour abroad, most notably in the UK and Germany, where both audiences and press have received them with open arms.

In March 2012 the band participated at SXSW in Austin, Texas which in turn led to them being signed by Germany's leading booking agency, FKP Scorpio. Bloody Beach did an extensive German tour in April, and came back to do festivals and clubs shows in the summer/autumn. In September the band will play their first show in the Netherlands at the Off Centre Festival at Melkweg.

The band has just finished recording their new album which will be released on Tellé Records (Röyksopp, Kings of Convenience, Young Dreams, Annie) in January 2013.

It is also worth mentioning that the band runs its own pirate radio station where a lot of the airtime is dedicated to the band's ethnic music influences. Some of their broadcasts are available for streaming at the band's Soundcloud page.
