"bloody beach – bonanza"

One of the most underground and hidden bands around are now starting to emerge. Formed in the city of Bergen on the west coast of Norway Bloody Beach have been focusing their time writing cool songs, so cool infact, that their latest track is called Bonanza, and they’re so laid back they don’t worry about playing live or getting themselves out there.

Thankfully, having recently played the warm up show for Øya Festival to a sold out crowd, Bloody Beach are looking forward to next year, which marks a new stage for the band as they release their new 7” on Tellé Records, the label known for the early releases of Royksopp, Annie, Bjørn Torske and many more. We expect great things – hear Bonanza below.

"Bloody Beach - 'Quembo Que?' // New Music"

Norwegian bands and musicians have never featured prominently on English airwaves, and have always been overshadowed by their Scandinavian counter-parts from Sweden or Iceland. Their two biggest exports, arguably Kings of Convenience and Royksopp, both came from the small Telle label based in Bergen, which, through bands like Rubies, is now seeking to recapture its more illustrious past. One such band is Bloody Beach, who are coming over to England next month to play some dates in the capital and see if their chaotic dance floor Indie can help build an English fan base.
Newly signed to the label they have only two releases to their name, an EP entitled “Bonanza” and the single “Quembo Que?” released last month. They describe their sound as “perfect for making beautiful babies, drinking vodka or simply speeding with your moped”, and this definitely captures their carefree, upbeat sound. They are not concerned with upholding an image or producing challenging lo-fi tunes and instead produce instantly accessible dance floor Indie, delivered with all the vigour and optimism of youth. “Quembo Que?” encapsulates this, with the line “Do you feel like dancing?” repeated throughout, and the tropical sounding, infectious percussion and fuzzy bass groove. Surf style guitar pop and electro funk converge on the dance floor under a canopy of sirens and synths, mixing the styles of bands like Surfer Blood with that of El Guincho and Django Django. The B-side “Gonzo Blues” has a rockier feel to it, with a manic drum beat that drives the song along till its cathartic end only two minutes in. Both songs rely on an irresistible rhythm that makes it almost impossible not to nod your head, while the band’s raw enthusiasm is contagious and sure to raise a smile.

Bloody Beach possess all the traits of a group new to the music business. They display a carefree teenage attitude in their simplistic lyrics and shamelessly upbeat sound, and while this gives their music an inchoate quality, it is simultaneously part of their charm, the emphasis being placed on enjoyment and having a good time. They may not equal the fame of the biggest bands to come from Telle but their live shows are sure to impress and should be well worth the entrance fee.

Bloody Beach are playing at The Buffalo Bar at 8pm and later on in Heroes bar in Camden on June 7th, in Dublin Castle at 8 15pm on the 8th and in The Bull and Gate at 9 30pm on June 9th.

"Bloody Beach - 'Quembo Que?' // New Music"

The eccentric norwegian band Bloody Beach, recently released their first single 'Quembo Que?'. The band has played together for 4 years, and earlier they've put out an EP named Bonanza. (Which you can download for free here: www.bloodybeach.tumblr.com.)

It's unpretentious indie rock music with an ethnic touch, despite its norwegian origin. On June 7th and 9th they will be playing two shows in London. Since they are famous for their crazy live shows (I can confirm that!), one show even ended with a band member breaking his foot, I wouldn't miss it! Here is the brand new music video for their single 'Quembo Que?': - http://thefourohfive.com

Bio

Based in Bergen, Norway, Bloody Beach started making music back in 2007.
BB has had a anything goes approach to making music and has tried to let their influences blend nicely without being worried about genres. The music is best described as a mix of rock, punk, dub and world music.

The band has played one longer tour in Germany (april 2012), headline shows in Germany (Hamburg and Berlin aug 2012), clubs in London, Amsterdam and Austin (SXSW 2012). And of course a range of tours in Norway, Norways own By:larm, youth shows, festivals (ya, Pstereo, & more) and regular club shows.
The debut album has been in the making for many years and is finally due autumn 2013.

Members of the band are also regular members or have been seen playing live with one of the following acts:
Young Dreams, Sondre Lerche, Casiokids, The Megaphonic Thrift, Lorraine, Datarock, The Alexandria Quartet.

Bloody Beach also manages their own Pirate Radio Station via soundcloud (https://soundcloud.com/bloody-beach/sets/pirate-radio) where they show their love for music from all over the world. Each episode is 30mins long and showcase pakistani surf music from the 60s, thai psychedlica, reggaea/dub and much more. Every episode with a taste of new and old Bloody Beach incorparated.
