Bio
Bloomsday captures the sincerity and humor of Irish and Celtic folk music with solid musicianship, skillful arrangements and a firm respect for the traditions from which they draw. Whether the audience is new to Irish and Celtic music, or full of longtime listeners, Bloomsday keeps their ears cocked and toes tapping, and a great time is sure to be had by all!
Bloomsday has been playing Irish and Celtic acoustic music across the Midwest since 2002 in a variety of venues. Drawing on influences such as Chieftains, Dervish, Danu, The Pogues, Great Big Sea and Tommy Makem, Bloomsday approaches Irish music from a unique perspective and has developed their own distinctive sound. Employing a broad pallet of traditional Irish instruments, Bloomsday presents
traditional Irish and Celtic music from all styles of the genre. Featuring flute, guitar, bodhran, fiddle, mandolin, whistle, harp, accordion, bouzouki, octave mandolin and strong harmony vocals, Bloomsday’s sound is even greater than the sum of its parts.
Past Shows
Bloomsday has played events such as the Chicago Celtic Fest, Gaelic Park Celtic Fest, Erin Feis, the Illinois State Fair and many other folk and bluegrass music festivals and concert series. They have played pubs from Chicago to St. Louis and Iowa to Indiana.
