"Blowing Up The Moon Blows Up The Key Club"

Blowing Up The Moon are a house favorite around here and their show today just further proved that this is a band with a lot of potential. Being young (the oldest member is 16) can definitely have its disadvantages, but these guys prove that age is just a number – these guys can definitely rock.

Tonight, not only did they have the entire crowd moving and singing along they even had the staff moving to their beat. They played a couple of the classics off their E.P. (which they were giving away for free) like “Say Hello To Lennon” and “All My Life”, but the real gem of their performance was their new song “She’s So Good” – a fast paced rock song that reminded me of something you would hear off an AC/DC or Strokes album.

These guys showed that there is no age limit on Rock N’ Roll and I’m pretty damn pleased they did. Look out for more from these guys in the future I have a feeling we are all in for something really fucking good. - LP33.tv

"Blowing Up The Moon CD Release Party @ The Roxy"

I learned this weekend that nothing makes me feel old faster than seeing people half my age perform music far better than I will ever be able to. Alas, while my fingers are clumsy at best on a fret board, they can navigate the keyboard of a Macbook like a pro, so I’ll put my envy of Blowing Up The Moon’s teenage members aside and use these ten digits to tell you how much I enjoyed watching the group perform Saturday night.

After the all-ages crowd was warmed into a rowdy frenzy by The Nukes, another LA-based band of musically accomplished teenagers, Blowing Up The Moon took to the stage and delivered a set expertly meshing pop punk, screamo, and rock. The result is something that can best be described (by me, anyways) as My Chemical Romance-meets-Cage the Elephant with a dash of The Starting Line thrown in for good measure. Frontman Andrew Stogel seemed completely comfortable on the legendary stage, working both the mic and the crowd, even making the best use of a bass drum that any non-drummer can by jumping off of it. The other members of the four-piece ensemble—lead guitarist Jesse Perlman, bassist Miki Katoni, and drummer Josh Conway—provided the perfect musical backdrop for Stogel’s vocals, be they screams or croons, in addition to adding their own voices to the mix when appropriate.

Near the end of their energetic set, Blowing Up The Moon treated the crowd to the live debut of their song “Boys and Girls” as well as a new (“very new,” in the words of Stogel) track, “She is Good.” Considering that the EP the group released Saturday night is their first, I’m sure most of what they’ve created so far could probably be considered “new.” However, if the band is able to maintain their knack for catchy songwriting and live energy, no doubt they’ll soon have an arsenal of “classic” Blowing Up The Moon tracks for crowd members to request at their shows. - LA Music Blog

Bio

With Andrew Stogel on Vocals, Miki Katoni on Bass, Jesse Perlman on Guitar and Josh Conway on Drums - we make up Blowing Up The Moon. We have been playing together for about a year now, and after meeting Andrew Stogel and welcoming him as our lead singer things have never been the same. We generated immediate interest out of Swing House Recording where President Phil Jaurigui took us under his wing and helped us produce our first 5 song E.P. - which we released to a large crowd at The Roxy Theatre.

Blowing Up The Moon represents a return to rock n' roll in our minds from a much younger generation. Our oldest member is 16 years old yet we still right all of our own music. Being new to the scene we feel very privileged to have received so much great feedback on our music. We have generated a small following in Los Angeles and are looking to expand that to many other areas of the world. We believe we offer something different and fresh while staying true to our rock n' roll roots. Check out our EPK video to get more of a feeling of who we really are and what we bring to the table.
