Blubell

Blubell grew up in São Paulo, one of the biggest cities in the world. And like in all big cities, she suffered from information overload all along... Her dead was a jazz collector who had more than a thousand jazz vinyl records in their basement, where she used to play with her Barbies while listening to Ella Fitzgerald...
When she was 12, her older brother taught her her first guitar chords and by the time she was 15, she was already writing songs.
Between 1999 and 2004, she was part os a couple of bands and started writing and recording jingles in her early twenties. In 2006 she released her first solo album, called "Slow Motion Ballet", a collection of confessional pop songs with a touch of folk and jazz. The album was well accepted by the crititcs. She was compared to Aimee Man in Bravo! Magazine and praised by other famous brazilian artists, like Marisa Monte.
After working with a few music producers in São Paulo and having her song "Chalala" become theme song in a TV Series called "Aline", Blubell was finally able to decide how she would record her second authorial album. She was invited by Yb (perhaps the most famous independent label in Brasil) to use their studios and called the jazz band "A Deriva" to be her backup band. The result is a "sophisticated pop", according to Folha de São Paulo, the biggest news paper in Brazil. There are songs that could be classified as jazz, such as "My Best", a genuine jazz ballad and "Triz", a downtempo swing guided by an accoustic bass phrase. But there are pop songs played with a jazzy style, like "1,2,3,5", witch features Baby Consuelo, the female singer from "Novos Baianos", the famous brazilian band from the 70's.
In 2011, she toured around both Brazil and Japan, where her records have been selling the most.
