Woah, now this shit is trippy as fuck. Per usual, I was scouring the Internet for new up-and-coming talent when I came across Philadelphia-via-DMV producer BLÜD. After checking out his recently released Element EP, I quickly came across his most recent, and incredibly wavy new project BLÜE. Press play on the atmospheric vibrations below. Today we have a quite special HDLSD Premiere from the likes of BLÜD (Formally Chris June) with the release of his new 2-Piece project: BLAQÜE. Production and mixing for the new project is handled by BLÜD himself, as both set’s of the project include 5 to 6 incredibly crafted audio masterpieces. To be as lowkey as he is, BLÜD is definitely creating out some incredible music. It’s also important to note BLÜD’S Nigerian/American background as I’m sure it has a lot to do with the influences that brought this project to life. The soulful stylings and melodic transitions he incorporates into each track are simply eargasmic. I’m actually quite surprised that someone of this musical caliber has yet to be discovered. You can feel the power in each track as they unfold, and to be quite honest, I’ve found one of my new personal favorite producers. BLÜD™ Formerly (Chris June) is a Nigerian -American Producer|Creative, born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. Growing up, BLÜD enjoyed playing Football & Basketball and credits that as a time period where his competitiveness and mental strength was sharpened. As he got older, he participated in High School and College Football but decided to focus solely on Music & Designing after his freshman year of college. His dreams of playing Professional Football actually came to an abrupt end after an email of praise from Long Beach artist Nipsey Hussle that gave him the confidence to pursue music fully. Having already taken production classes in High School, he turned his skills over into the production world working with Philadelphia artists such as Lyn Charles.
After studying countless hours and working and crafting his sound, he began creating Beat Tapes, Instrumentals, & EP's and posting them on platforms such as Soundcloud and Reverbnation. Entering the Music Industry at such a young age required a lot of studying, crafting and practice as he dedicated himself to improving and finding a brand niche. BLÜD has been privileged to work with several artists outside of Philadelphia including Chavis Chandler (Detroit), J.Y (New Jersey), Issa J (DC Metro Area), Seth Narley (Bronx, NY) and multiple other upcoming artists.
BLÜD put his own creative sense into his production by separating himself from the mainstream perception of how music should be made and making music that provokes thought onto the listeners. While striving for a bigger platform, he vowed to remain himself instead of changing with the mainstream sound and focus on creating his own platform to bring to the music world. After being featured on blogs such as Dailychiefers and HDLSD for his projects “BLAQÜE” & “BLÜE Instrumental EP” in 2015, he has released several other high quality instrumentals on his Soundcloud and is trying to build off of his previous account “Chris June” in which he received thousands upon thousands of plays before changing his brand. His unique style of production is like no other in the Philadelphia area and he is striving to create a platform for Producers with similar backgrounds and ethnicities. The grind certainly does not stop as BLÜD has released a high quality EP titled “From BLÜD™ With Love” based off of the James Bond movie series.
While he has several projects in the works and multiple connections with big name artists, it would be absurd to count him out. At only 23, he is climbing his way to the top not only as a Producer, but as a business mogul as well. He looks to expand his reach and work with bigger name artists in the underground scene instead of just being a Local phenomenon. After achieving Business success, he hopes to one day give back to his city in the best way possible by providing opportunities for the youth and upcoming independent artists and entrepreneurs.
