The best kept secret in music

"Bluebox @ Starbucks' Walk For Water"

"The Starbucks Coffee Company, through their Ethos water brand, put on this event at the [Santa Monica] Pier to raise awareness about World Water Day, which was started by the U.N. in 1993. Every 22nd day of March is reserved for informing the public about the water scarcity and water contamination issues that plague much of the world.

A rock/pop group, Blue Box (which included two Starbucks baristas), entertained the crowd from about 9:15 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. while the nearly 700 preregistered participants signed in and received free T-shirts or hats to commemorate the event. People mingled freely and learned about the different impacts of water scarcity as well as water politics while Starbucks provided free refreshments to everyone."

Feeling a bit camera shy

Bluebox is a confluence of musical forces with an agenda for success and the talent and work ethic to back it up. All four members have spent time at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood perfecting their craft. Be it singing, songwriting, or instrument playing, the talent and professionalism of all four individuals is evident in their self-titled debut album.

Comprised of four young men from diverse backgrounds--musically and otherwise--Bluebox is an entity completely original and entirely genuine. It is something of an anomaly that so much musical experience--combined, more than fifty years--should be found in such a young group. Drawing from diverse influences ranging from melodic pop to jazz fusion, Bluebox creates music that is both catchy and intricate. Singable melodies, rich harmonies, and pensive lyrics provide a front to driving, often danceable rhythms and tight, fluid instrumentals.

Bluebox's live show is a seamless combination of the raw, physical energy one might experience at a rock show, and the technical proficiency one would expect from a veteran jazz outfit. Soulful throughout, Bluebox's live show makes singing and dancing along seem involuntary.
