The birth of Blue Collar whiskey can best be described as fate. If it had not been for a phone call that Will Erickson (lead vocals) had received, then none of this would be. You see he moved to Florida for a fresh start in a new career and planned on leaving music behind. When he got the call he was surprised to find out that he was being asked to play back in South Carolina and the person on the other line wouldn’t take no for an answer.
One year later, Blue Collar Whiskey was tearing up the USF scene playing full band every Thursday at Prana in Ybor City and every Friday at Tias in the USF area. The middle of the week they played duo gigs at Tampa Brickyard and The Greenery.
Eventually they found themselves as being the house band for The Dubliner Irish Pub in South Tampa every Friday night and playing there every Wednesday night and most Saturdays that they were not playing Mangroves in South Tampa as well.
Since that time Blue Collar Whiskey has revamped the lineup and evolved into the sound that everyone who hears them has grown to love. While they are primarily an acoustic duo now due to an abrupt bassist departure, that won’t stop them from bringing the Tampa Bay area the music they need. Don’t worry though, the band will be back.
