"Local country band readies video for CMT"

Local country band readies video for CMT

Future looks bright for Brenda Loomis and the Blue Coyote Band
Lansing and Nashville-based Brenda Loomis and the Blue Coyote Band have shared the stage with big country names like Tim McGraw, Travis Tritt and Leanne Rimes.

Now, they're garnering their own stardom, with a forthcoming CMT music video and work with national children charity organization the Lili Claire Foundation.

The country-rock band - including Brenda Loomis (lead vocals/keyboards), Scott Bates (drums/more), Robert Cottom (bass/lead vocals), Ron Mishler (guitar/saxophone/more), Clayborne Stewart (guitar/saxophone/more) and Paul Loomis (keyboards/more) - plays Buddies Bar and Grill in Holt the night before Thanksgiving.

As for getting the CMT deal, Bates says it just fell into place.

"When we signed with the Lili Claire Foundation, (producer) Robin Cursi loved the song, 'Raising My Standard,' " he says. "Robin works with actor Matthew Perry from the TV show, 'Friends' ... They rely on celebrities throughout the country to help them with their cause, from actors to high profile recording artists.

"They thought it would be a good idea to launch the careers of future entertainers, and in return, they would help the foundation throughout their careers."

The video will air sometime next spring or summer.

Bates and the rest of the band are excited to work with the charity organization Lili Claire Foundation in the coming months. That partnership, like the CMT deal, happened to fall into place.

"(Guitarist) Ronnie Mishler and I were invited to be extras in a CMT video with our good friend, Alan Turner. He was shooting the song, 'Everyone's A Miracle (Lili's Song),' " Bates says. "The song tells the story of the Lili Claire Foundation.

"The foundation was born from Keith and Leslie Litt Resnick's dream to honor the memory of their infant daughter Lili Claire, by helping to improve the lives of children ... Alan introduced us to Robin Cursi that day and I sent him a demo of our song and he loved it.

"This year the band is on a roller coaster and we continue to look forward."
