Rather being drug abuse, growing up without your father or mother, thinking about death, there's still a way to go on! Derek and Amanda project a sound that beats their own heart out of its body passing through their bones and skin for you to see where they have been and are struggling. Blue in the face started in 2007, when Derek Morris left his other band that was touring and playing massively! But he found himself drifting into new thoughts and vision for music he wanted to play. Even though Derek knew how to sing or perform acoustic on his own. But his heart was beating to deeply practice, and practice, and write songs about past life stories. Then

Met Amanda late 2007 and we have never looked back!
Our music is passionate and real. Rather it would be a song of "Never giving up on life" or " A day you didn't want to come out of the house." We are real people and are far from not relating with others! I think that is whats unique about Blue in the face. We have many influences, from City and Colour,Sarah Groves,Stars, Postal service, Irone and Wine, Unwritten law, Alkaline trio, Matt Skiba acoustic and much more!
