Bio

Brad and I have been friends since high school. We knew each other before that. When we were eight, he came to my house on an arranged playdate/marriage and told me how his dad would sometimes let him bend a piece of silver. Brad's dad is a jeweler, a painter, and has a gargantuan record collection. Brad and I would weave guitars and listen those records while in high school. We grew up listening to hardcore and were fortunate to be a part of what Converge started in North Shore Boston. We went to college for architecture, art, poetry, and when I was at school I met Matt Livick, who is phenomenal and I knew as a person for like 5 years before we ever played music together - sort of. A scene in Hartford, CT developed around an exceptional group of freakishly talented and occult-magick curious people, I left Hartford and Matt and I didn't hang for a couple years. Brad and I would start making music again on winter breaks and with drum machines and no live playing in the same room. This continued on the internet and all and flashdrives. We went from hideously low-tech toward a vastly technological bunker in which the 3 of us all live in Brooklyn.

There are a total of 6 brain-halves in Bluejay and I truly hope you get the chance to dive in all of them. Right here I've got a love for Barnett Newman, Talk Talk, David Sylvian, Japan, Converge, and Terry Hall. Brad is the most advanced, strange guitar player in Brookyn. Matt is truly an honor to play with. That's the inside story. But the outside story is one of a membrane slowly opening. And leaking until the inside is calm and the outside is finally reflective of true colors.

I want to live a sort of controlled synesthesia. And I can't speak for Matt and Brad, but I feel like we all kind of do. No shortcuts. Rigor. Parties. The real thing. freaking it. The whole getting outside the skin (it's only half). More Bluejay bios? I would read them. We hope you'll all be there to do it with us.
