Bio
This 5-piece band can Jump, Swing, Boogie and rock with the best of them. Their music is reminiscent not only of the big Blues bands with horns and keys (BB King, T-Bone Walker, Louis Jordan), but they can rip through hot rockers that sound like George Thorogood or Bo Diddley one minute, and slip into a Big Band-style Swing that will remind you of Count Basie or Woody Herman the next.
The Blue Plate Specials put on a professional show with enough “show biz” to really engage a crowd, and people have been responding very positively.
The songs are fun (I Need a Car that a Guy Could Write a Song About!), funny (Who Threw the Whiskey in the Well?) and sometimes topical (Bailout Man); and Charlie's unpredictable stage antics keep the audience wondering what he'll do next!
The Blue Plate Specials know how to entertain a crowd, and the crowd responds by dancing and having a party.
The Blue Plate Specials are:
Charlie Frey - Guitar, Vocals
Walter Beier - Tenor Saxophone
Alan Sheltzer - Keys
Ken Bernardo - Bass, Vocals
Steve Schwartz - Drums
